SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Alarming audio files and documents from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Internal Affairs Division have been released about the sexual misconduct investigation into ex-deputy Richard Fischer who was accused of assaulting 16 women. Team 10 has started pouring through the records.In one audio clip, an Internal Affairs interviewer is heard questioning, "As you're buckling her, did you say, 'I hope your husband doesn't mind?'" He responded, "I don't recall saying that." He was apparently being questioned about his interaction with a handcuffed woman who was in his patrol car. "Okay. Well, do you recall if your arm or your palm of your hand touched her breast?" she asked. He said, "No. I would say I can't recall for sure if I accidentally touched- rubbed against- not rubbed. Um, unintentionally touched her breast with my arm as I buckled her in."In another clip, a woman is heard describing how she says Fischer placed her hand on his private area. She said, "Oh my God. I was, like, in a panic. I didn't know what to do."The hours of audio recordings and hundreds of pages of reports from the Department have now been made public. For months, San Diego police agencies have been working to release past records related to officer misconduct, following last year's groundbreaking order by the courts. It came after ABC10 News and other media sued to keep some police unions from blocking departments from giving up files.Fischer pleaded guilty last year to multiple assault charges, following accusations that he groped, hugged or tried to kiss more than a dozen women while he was on-duty.Records released show copies of texts from a woman who he pulled over. They read, in part, “He asks me if I wanted to make out. I swear to God [redacted] every single word of this is true."Several times throughout the audio recordings, he's asked about women who he had met while he was on calls or doing traffic stops. "Did you, um, ask her, if [she] were older if she would ever go on a date with you?" asked the interviewer. "I don't believe I did. No,” he responded. "Is it possible you asked her that?" she asked. He replied, "[I’m] probably [going to] say ‘no’. I don't remember asking her that."This May, Fischer was released from jail on custody credits, just months after being sentenced to four years behind bars. 2351

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Scripps Ranch woman did a double take when she found a mailbox post knocked down, the biggest shock came two days later.Last Thursday afternoon, Elizabeth Spelce came out of her along Cypress Valley Drive and saw it: A wooden post with her mailbox and three others was lying on its side, split apart just above the concrete."Disbelief. Stood there for a good minute and stared," said Spelce.At first she thought the culprit was the wet, windy weather. Two days later, she took a closer look and realized the wood was not rotted and wasn't so sure about her wind theory. She then assumed it might have been some bad driver or teen driver, so she decided to look at her Ring doorbell video."It was a little shocking," said Spelce.In the video, a mail truck is seen pulling alongside the curb, before running right into the post and toppling the mailboxes. The postal carrier backs up the truck, pulls forward, and soon after, reaches down and delivers the mail. The truck then drives off, apparently resuming its route."There was no note. No nothing. Just a big mystery," said Spelce.Spelce says the postal carrier added to the mystery when she talked to a neighbor. "She says, 'by the way, your mailboxes are knocked over ... Gosh, I can't imagine how it happened,'" said Spelce.Remember how she continued to deliver the mail after the mailboxes were knocked over? "She was pretending she delivered the mail and then it happened ... It's very disappointing," said Spelce.Her toppled post has since been replaced by her HOA. Spelce filed a complaint with the Postal Service. She's doesn't want the mail carrier to lose her job, but hopes she'll finally take responsibility. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An arson investigation expert says the probe into possible arson behind the USS Bonhomme Richard fire could take more than a year to complete.Wednesday multiple sources with close ties to NCIS told ABC 10News that a sailor is being investigated for arson in the Navy ship fire at Naval Base San Diego last month.Timothy Wilhelm is a senior fire investigator with Robson Forensic and has extensive experience with arson cases. He’s not part of the Navy ship investigation but says it could take agents more than a year to complete their findings. “There's so many delicate systems in that ship. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will make its way through the Bayfront.Before making the turn to Coronado, the parade will proceed to the pier at Cesar Chavez Park.The parade is put on annually by the Port of San Diego and brings more than 100,000 residents and visitors to the bay each year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego woman says she was the victim of a violent attack inside her hotel room at the high-end Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad.In an exclusive interview with 10News, Jacquee Renna is accusing the front desk staff of handing out her room number and a key without her permission. The hotel is staying tight-lipped with 10News about the apparent security breach, but it's giving details to the courts."I haven't felt safe since then," Renna tells Team 10 Investigative Reporter Jennifer Kastner. "Suddenly, I heard the door kind of jiggle and I thought [room service] was coming to get our plates," she explains. She and her boyfriend were finishing dinner inside their hotel room when she says her ex-husband was able to unlock the door and break through the security latch."I saw the key in his hands so he had the key," she tells us. "He threw me over onto the bed. I could see rage in his face."Court documents claim her ex-husband punched her boyfriend in the face, dragged him at least twenty feet and kicked him in the head. Renna says her ex-husband then ran out to the parking lot, where he apparently slashed her boyfriend's tires, before leaving."[My boyfriend] had bruises and scrapes. I think we were both really in shock," she says. "The Omni has a responsibility to provide safe and secure rooms to their guests," says her attorney, Robert Fitzpatrick. He's helping her sue the hotel chain for negligence.Renna says that after the attack, the hotel manager apologized to her and said the hotel's front desk person had given the key to her ex-husband. Fitzpatrick adds, "Omni should never have given a key to the hotel room and they should have not disclosed the hotel room number."Hotel room attacks are uncommon but have made headlines in Southern California.Earlier this year, Covina police say security video caught a pastor lurking outside a Los Angeles hotel room, touching himself as he watched two girls who were alone inside. Officers report he later forced his way into the room and assaulted an 11-year-old. He was charged, but has pleaded "not guilty".Disturbing 2014 security video out of Kern County captured a front desk worker handing a room key to a man accused of posing as a female guest's boyfriend, before he reportedly fumbled with the room's peep hole, went inside, and sexually assaulted the woman while she was sleeping. He's seen running out with his pants around his ankles. He was convicted and a jury found that the hotel was partially responsible for the assault.It begs the question, who is responsible for making sure hotels in San Diego are keeping guests safe? To get answers, Team10 spoke to the San Diego Hotel-Motel Association, the San Diego Tourism Authority, local hotel negligence attorneys and private security professionals. None of them knew of any local, state or federal authority that has oversight. Hotels are left to police themselves. The Omni Hotel chain denied our request for an interview to discuss the new lawsuit, citing that it doesn't talk about pending litigation.
