SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Students have been released from school following reports of shots fired in the area around Kearny Senior High School Wednesday afternoon. According to San Diego Police, officers were alerted to the reports around 2:20 p.m. So far, no one has been taken into custody and police are still searching for a scene. Mesa College Drive is also closed from Ashford to Armory while police search the area. Kearny Senior High School is located on the 1900 block of Komet Way near San Diego Mesa College. 523

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Comic-Con Museum plans to open to the public next summer, revealing a new look at the museum space designed to provide a year-round SDCC experience.The former San Diego Hall of Champions is still undergoing work to transform its interior into a dedicated space for art, pop culture, and interactive experiences. When finished, the museum plans to have a 25,000-square-feet of space for exhibits, more than 6,000-square-feet of classroom space for hands-on enrichment, and a 4K video theater and presentation space.The museum says it will also host a year-round schedule of programs and exhibits, like Comic-Con panels, creator meet-and-greets, experiential cinema, watch parties, eSports, cosplay shows, and more.A cafe featuring items themed off of current exhibits and programs is also planned. The museum will also have a gift shop with comics and graphic novels, souvenirs, and other collectibles."The spirit of Comic-Con has always extended beyond the conventions and that’s why we are very excited to be able to capture and share this creative energy in a space that is designed to be participatory, educational and, most of all, fun," David Glanzer, Chief Communications and Strategy Officer for Comic-Con, said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The man responsible for a fatal drunk driving crash nearly two years ago was sentenced to more than three decades in prison Friday. San Diego Superior Court Judge Joan Weber handed Jeffrey Levi a sentence of 30 years to life in prison, plus an additional four years for the crash that killed 19-year-old Isaac Felix and 33-year-old Jesus Dominguez. “I do want to remind you Mr. Levi, because I know that you’re going to be living with that for the rest of your life, that you killed these two young people and burned them to death, you permanently maimed another young woman, and injured an officer,” said Weber. “By my count, you made four fatal decisions on that night."In January 2018, Levi got behind the wheel of his Mustang while drunk and drove more than 100 miles per hour on Interstate 15. RELATED: 2 dead in fiery crash on I-15 in Scripps RanchHis car slammed into a Toyota Corolla carrying Felix, Jesus Dominguez, and Giovanna Dominguez. The Corolla was disabled in the freeway lanes, then hit by an SUV driven by an off-duty San Diego Police sergeant. The sedan burst into flames, killing Felix and Jesus Dominguez. Giovanna was severely injured but rescued by Good Samaritans. Sgt. Raymond Rowe was also injured. Levi fled the scene, completely uninjured. He was later found and arrested. “I made very serious mistakes with detrimental consequences; I relapsed,” said Levi after explaining his attempt at rehab for his alcoholism. “I think of Jesus, Isaac, Giovanna and their friends and families every day. I wish that I could do or say something to change what happened, but I can’t and I have to live with that forever.” In August, a jury found Levi guilty of second-degree murder, hit and run, drunk driving, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He also has a prior DUI conviction from 2007. The victims’ families have also filed a civil lawsuit against Levi, the City of San Diego and Sgt. Rowe. That case is pending. 1977

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The City of San Diego is set to open a third homeless storage facility on Monday. The facility will be similar to the locations in downtown and Logan Heights, allowing homeless to safely store their personal belongings while trying to get back on their feet. The new location is located on 54th and Lea Street in El Cerrito. It will be operated by Mental Health Systems (MHS), a nonprofit that also operates the Logan Heights location. The organization helps people that are affected by substance abuse and behavioral health disorders. With the addition of this third location, the city now has storage space for over 1,400 people. 10News spoke to homeowners near the new storage location and neighbors had mixed reactions. Some worried the facility would attract more homeless to the area and others worried about people leaving trash behind in their neighborhoods. Some neighbors told 10News they welcome the facility and hope this will help people get back on their feet. The facility opens at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. 1047
