SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) — Several migrants were saved from a flooded San Ysidro storm drain in two separate rescues.The first rescue took place just before 11 p.m. Thursday. Border Patrol agents say they found three people trying to illegally enter the U.S. near a drainage tube about two miles west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The three people told agents that others were still inside the drain as heavy rainfall began to flood the tube.With the help of San Diego Fire-Rescue, one woman was quickly pulled to safety from the drainage tube before crews saved 13 more people through a manhole leading into the drain.RELATED: Teen found hiding in car dashboard at Calexico West Port of EntrySeven of those 17 people were taken to a nearby hospital.Then at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, border agents reported more migrants were possibly trapped in the same drain. SDFD crews and lifeguards returned and pulled one woman from the drain. Border Patrol agents also found two people near the exit of the tube. All were being processed Friday for illegally entering the country.Just before 3 a.m., Border Patrol agents say they located an unknown, deceased person in the water line on a beach near the west end of the Tijuana River mouth. It wasn't known, though, if the person was related to the earlier smuggling attempts, according to Customs and Border Protection.“The lifesaving efforts of these agents, who bravely risk their own lives to save others, makes me proud.” said Chief Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison. “Inclement weather conditions and perilous drainage pipe water flows, significantly increase the odds of a grim outcome.” 1862

SEDGWICK, Colo. – A man suspected of killing three members of a Kentucky family who were found dead Monday was arrested Monday afternoon near a small town in northeast Colorado.Edward Siddens, was arrested around 4:20 p.m. in Sedgwick, Colorado, which is just south and west of borders with Nebraska.He was wanted by Kentucky State Police out of Allen County, Kentucky. In connection to the deaths of Jimmy Siddens, his wife, Helen Siddens, and their son, Jimmy Siddens II. It's unclear how Edward Siddens might be related to the deceased.According to Kentucky authorities and local media reports, a county water employee was checking the family’s meter Monday and found two bodies on the ground. Authorities found another body nearby.The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified shortly after 4 p.m. Monday that Siddens as in the county.Siddens was believed to have been driving a stolen vehicle when he was found by deputies in the town of Sedgwick. The sheriff’s office says deputies were involved in a “short low speed pursuit” with Siddens before he was arrested without incident.The sheriff’s office confirmed that Siddens was the man arrested Monday, and said it was working with Kentucky state police. SAN MARCOS, Calif (KGTV) - A San Marcos family is warning pet owners of the consequences that can come when a dog runs away.They say their 11-year-old dog has gotten away twice in the past six months due to problems with their gate - both times he ended up with the San Diego Humane Society.After the most recent incident an animal officer told the family if it happens again they'd be facing a misdemeanor charge and serious fine.The Humane Society says they try to give owners warnings first but that they must put public safety first.Humane officers can issue a citation and then charges and fines are up to a judge. Fines can be hundreds of dollars.    674

SAN YSIDRO (CNS) - A body was found Wednesday morning near a San Ysidro intersection, police said.Dispatchers received a report of the body around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Smythe Avenue and Sunset Lane, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.No details about the victim were immediately available.The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene to take custody of the body for autopsy and identification purposes.Homicide detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the death. 542

Sears has won some more time to save itself. But not a lot more time.At a bankruptcy court hearing Thursday, Judge Robert Drain approved Sears' plan to auction off about 500 stores. The auction is central to the company's mission to remain in business. Sears intends to use funds from the sale for its operations, and it will pay rent to the stores' buyers so they can stay open.A committee of Sears' creditors had objected to the plan and argued that the company should immediately start the process of going out of business to limit its ongoing losses.Judge Drain said he will hold another hearing a week before Christmas to consider whether to go ahead with Sears' effort to stay in business or start the process to close all its remaining stores. Drain said it wasn't realistic to start a liquidation process immediately."You can't do a GOB [going out of business] plan for a company this big by snapping your fingers," he said.
