(KGTV) — Eastlake Little League responded to media reports of controversy with fellow district youth baseball league, Park View, citing a recent "false" report by a local radio station.Eastlake told 10News that the league's officials had no part in putting together a protest against fellow District 42 league, Park View Little League, alleging residency and school enrollment violations.The timing of this protest comes as Park View seeks its third trip to the Little League World Series in nine years.RELATED: Chula Vista's Park View Little League crowned SoCal ChampsThe complaint, submitted by a group of Eastlake parents, surrounded Park View player residency and school enrollment requirements, according to a statement from Eastlake Little League treasurer Shane Stroberg."Eastlake Little League and the Board of Directors as a whole did not support, perform or pay for any information gathering regarding the Park View All Stars," Stroberg told 10News in a statement.In a separate statement, Little League International Director of Media Relations Kevin Fountain told 10News that Little League officials had "not found any reason to deem Park View Little League ineligible from the Little League International Tournament" following the complaint.He added that Park View had submitted additional documents to support residency and school enrollment requirements of its players: 1477

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Parents and students at Eastlake High School say they came back from winter break on Wednesday, only to find out their classes had been changed or consolidated. Parents tell 10News they received an email just after 8:30 a.m. letting them know of the changes. The students were told once they got to school. One Eastlake High School mom told 10News her child's AP calculus class was consolidated, forcing her son to move to a different teacher and a larger class.The email to parents reads as follows: 540

(KGTV) – More than 300 South Bay parents and students attended a school safety forum Monday night.The Sweetwater Union High School District and Chula Vista police held the meeting at Chula Vista High School’s Performing Arts Center.“We certainly had some questions, we pinged our kids on what drills are being done on their campuses,” said Ricky Gallegos, who has two kids that attend high schools in the district.School officials and police assured parents that they practice and prepare for the unthinkable. But police were also candid about their limited resources. They have 10 school resource officers for 61 campuses and more than 51,000 students in Chula Vista.  Police asked parents for their help by reminding them to be involved with their kids and school community and to report whatever doesn't sound right. They also told them about the “P-3 Anonymous Tip App” which was launched within the past year. They said it there have been more than 400 tips made and law enforcement removed 13 guns from San Diego County Schools as a result of the app.“I think it’s petty cool, especially that it’s anonymous because I know some students are worried that they’ll talk to someone else,” Leira Gardea, a sophomore at Chula Vista High School said.Mental health was also a big topic of discussion. Called “Salt Drift Pointe” the owners say they wanted to honor the industrial history driven by the old salt ponds that helped move the region from farming to industry. Over the years, the South Bay city has changed dramatically. Switching gears from an agricultural hub to an industrial one. Now, another shift is underway. One aimed at helping the city bring in more tourists. Lemons, oranges and lots of celery once dominated the landscape of Chula Vista. But that all changed in 1911 when the city was officially incorporated as part of California. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - Chula Vista police are searching for a possible arsonist after four brush fires were set within minutes of each other Thursday morning.Firefighters responded around 3:30 a.m. to the area south of Lake Crest Drive and east of Wueste Road in Eastlake.While crews were working to put out the fire, they received a second fire call nearly three miles away on Eastlake Parkway.The third brush fire happened a short time after on Telegraph Canyon Road, and then the fourth fire broke out near Vista Oak Place.No one was hurt, and firefighters were able to put out all the fires.Witnesses told fire investigators they saw a silver Lexus leaving the scene of the fourth fire around 4:15 a.m.Anyone with information on the suspected arsonist or the incidents is asked to contact the Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) at 619-236-6815. 850
