BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua)-- China on Friday urged the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States to treat its concern and position seriously on the ROK-U.S. military drills in the Yellow Sea.Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu made the remarks after the Pentagon said Thursday, according to media reports, that the U.S. aircraft carrier USS George Washington would take part in a series of ROK-U.S. joint naval exercises in the Yellow Sea in the coming months."We have repeatedly expressed our clear and firm stance on the ROK-U.S. military drills to the relevant parties," Jiang said in a news release.

TORONTO, Canada, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao visited an aircraft manufacturing facility on Saturday morning, in a gesture to show that China attaches importance to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Canada.Bombardier, a Canada-based global manufacturer of planes and trains, has cooperation projects with China in the areas of civil aviation and rail transportation.It has been working with the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) of China to jointly develop and manufacture the innovative C series of airplanes.Hu toured the factory to have a close look at the components of the Q400 aircraft, which was partly manufactured in Shenyang. ZHOUQU, Gansu, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from rain-triggered mudslides in Zhouqu County of northwest China's Gansu Province has risen to 337, with 1,148 others still missing, Chen Jianhua, official sources said Monday night.Another 1,242 people were rescued, Chen, Party chief of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, which administers the county, said at a press conference.Chen said 218 injured survivors had received treatment in local hospitals, and 41 severely injured ones had been transferred to hospitals in the provincial capital, Lanzhou, as of 4:30 p.m.
