Most Americans are planning a scaled back event.But 75% of people told Butterball they plan to have a turkey the same size this year, as last year.“If you're looking for a smaller turkey, I would recommend shopping early to get what you want,” said Andrea Balitewicz, Butterball Turkey Talk-Line Supervisor.While many people are looking for some normalcy this Thanksgiving, 30% are hosting immediate family only.Butterball says there will also be more first-time hosts.“But there's also other products available like our turkey breast roasts, which are perfect for just a couple of people, or you can find the bone in turkey breast and that's a really great product too, and it's some for about six to seven people. So, it's a great product for smaller celebrations.”Butterball is planning the same offerings as usual. About half its turkeys will be in the 10-16 pound range. The other half in the 16-24 pound range.Walmart says it will have 30% more turkey breasts for those that don't want to cook a whole bird, even though they will have plenty of those.Kroger bought more turkeys than usual. It's predicting an increase in demand for alternatives.Turkey sales have been falling in general, according to Nielsen data. Last November they were down 3.5% from the year before. TAMPA, Fla. — Police say that street racing led to the death of a mother struck by a vehicle while pushing her child in a stroller in Tampa, Florida. Three people have been arrested.According to Tampa Police, two cars were street racing down Bayshore Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon when one of the vehicles struck the mother and child near W. Knights Avenue in Tampa.Tampa police say the mother, 24-year-old Jessica Reisinger, and the 2-year-old child were sent to the hospital with serious injuries. Reisinger died at the hospital and the 2-year-old is currently in serious condition.  616

TAMPA, Fla. — In an ironic twist, a bond hearing for the Tampa teen accused of hacking the Twitter accounts of politicians, celebrities and technology moguls got hacked this week.The bond hearing took place over Zoom. During the hearing, the judge and attorneys were interrupted several times with people shouting racial slurs, playing music and showing pornographic images.Seventeen-year-old Graham Clark is accused of using the hijacked Twitter accounts to scam people around the world out of more than 0,000 in Bitcoin.The accounts included Bill Gates, Barack Obama and Elon Musk. Prosecutors believe Clark got access by convincing a Twitter employee he was a coworker. He faces numerous charges including 17 counts of communications fraud and 11 counts of fraudulent use of personal information.Clark was arrested Friday and entered the not-guilty pleas Tuesday.The judge denied a motion to reduce Clark's bond. TERRE HAUTE (AP) — The U.S. government has executed a former soldier who said an obsession with witchcraft led him to kill a Georgia nurse he believed had put a spell on him. William Emmett LeCroy is the sixth federal inmate put to death this year at the U.S. prison in Terre Haute. Before that, there had been a 17-year hiatus without any federal executions. Lawyers had asked President Donald Trump in a petition to commute LeCroy's sentence for killing Joann Lee Tiesler in 2001. It can be a desk, the kitchen table, or an empty guest room.You also want to get them involved in making the space functional."Whether that’s adding some posters that inspire them or whether it’s just getting color-coded notebooks that they’re going to use," Flenner said. "That actually can bring some excitement for them for this new school year when it’s a really hard time for them."Once you got that figured out, it is time to set up what Flenner calls a “pace chart.” It’s basically the agenda your kid is familiar with, but for you too. Some parents put it on a big whiteboard or just a piece of paper attached to the fridge."Parents can really do that important part of organizing them so that they can really focus on their job which is to learn the content," Flenner said.She also suggests after getting access to the virtual learning platform, go in and click on everything. Then, organize different binders or folders for each course.If your kids are sharing devices with each other or you, make a folder on the desktop for their own work. Or buy each child their own flash drive."The biggest help that will get you in gear for virtual learning… is to throw out what you know about the traditional school day. We call it chunking their time together," Flenner said. "Most students will work three to four hours like on one course alone to get everything done before they move on."Flenner and the crew at Florida Virtual School have been doing this for more than 20 years.
