SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man fired as many as five shots at a parked car in San Ysidro Wednesday morning, San Diego Police said.The shooting happened at 7 a.m. at an apartment complex near West San Ysidro Boulevard and Dairy Mart Road, according to officers.No one was hurt by the gunfire.Police said the man surrendered peacefully when they arrived at the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was hospitalized after being shot as he sat in his car at a Southcrest park, San Diego police said.The incident happened just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of Newton Avenue, according to police.The 26-year-old victim and a 19-year-old man were sitting in a BMW when two men walked up to the car. Police said the two men pounded on the car’s windows before they opened fire.The victim was shot in the left thigh and left wrist, police said. The 19-year-old was not hurt.The victim drove the bullet-riddled BMW away from the park and called 911 to report the shooting. Police made contact with the BMW on National Avenue and the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.According to police, the suspected shooters are believed to have fled the park in a white pickup truck. Twelve shell casings were recovered at the scene, police added.Descriptions of the two suspected shooters were not immediately available. 984

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego contractor who admitted to stealing people’s money and not doing the work was sentenced Wednesday. Stephen Hage entered the courtroom as a free man, but left in shackles. Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin exposed the San Diego contractor back in 2018. Late last year, Hage pleaded guilty to three counts of grand theft and two counts of theft from an elder. Wednesday, he was sentenced to one year in custody on the charges. RELATED: Contractor accused of taking money and not finishing the jobWhile he was waiting for sentencing on the charges, a San Diegan now living in Arizona says that hasn’t stopped Hage from working. The man says Hage took his money and didn’t finish the job. The accusations brought up in court today. Prosecutors say total restitution to Hage’s 22 San Diego victims is about ,000. Wednesday, he brought in a check that’s not even close. “To come to court with ,700 after numerous months really isn’t sufficient.”The defense arguing he’s doing the best he can. “He’s not taking money from people and living this life of luxury, he’s barley getting by. After 30 days, Hage will be released to work furlough so he can earn money to pay back his victims.It will be up to Yuma County, Arizona whether or not to press charges there. According to caring.com, San Diego ranks 159th out of 302 cities nationally for best and worst cities for seniors. San Diego ranked high on the list when it comes to quality of life, ranking 94th out of the 302 cities. Some areas where San Diego ranked lower include healthcare,180th out of 302 and affordability, placing 194th out of 302. In California, San Diego ranked fairly low, coming in at 45th among 75 cities. The best cities in The Golden State for seniors are San Francisco, Woodland Hills, Santa Monica and Burlingame. Nationally, San Francisco also took the top spot, followed by Fredericksburg, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Boston Massachusetts. Caring.com rated the cities using data on healthcare, housing options, community engagement, transportation, quality of life and workforce development. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, seniors will outnumber kids by 2035. A separate study found that retirees in America's Finest City are downsizing to make it in San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local father is recovering from stab wounds after getting attacked by an intruder in his home. The man's 20-year-old son shot and killed that intruder according to San Diego Police. It happened just before 6:30 Tuesday morning at a home in the 6300 block of Lake Shore Drive in San Carlos. Neighbors heard the violence. "I heard the gunshots, it was like three or four gunshots, then screams for help immediately after," said Denise Rolla. When police got to the home, they found the suspect dead in the pool and the 54-year-old homeowner with stab wounds to the upper body. Police say the homeowner's son shot and killed the intruder, who stumbled out the back and landed in the pool. "I heard what turned out to be the suspect fall into the pool and then a couple minutes later, you could see the blood start to spread out through the pool," said Andrew Grogg, who lives right next door. There are walking paths and Mission Trails Golf Course is located behind the homes which are just southwest of Jackson Drive. Neighbors say they don't have a problem with transients in the area, but police say so far, it appears the 38-year-old suspect is homeless. His name hasn't been released. The family owns a tire shop in La Mesa. They are well known and liked in the community. "They're local business owners in the community. They're great neighbors. They're kind, they're nice," said Grogg. Police say so far, the attack appears to be random. 1472
