PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers continue to share stories of scary moments and narrow escapes as there are more reports of Kia Souls catching fire.New complaints led I-Team Investigator Jackie Callaway to ask why some vehicles weren't included in the automaker's past recalls for engine fire risks.Brek Badgley says his 2015 Kia Soul burst into flames while rolling down I-75 northbound in Hernando County last December. He said the fire gutted the entire vehicle within minutes.“Just tossed my phone out of the window and started throwing stuff out of the car,” Badgley said.In April 2019, Kia recalled nearly 380,000 Kia Souls made between 2012 and 2016 over a defect that they say could cause a fire. We checked Brek’s VIN and found his Soul wasn't included in that recall.The I-Team discovered not every Soul made during those years was taken off the road. Kia says that's because even within the same model year, vehicles can have different equipment.Shelly Parks' 2015 Kia Soul was among those not recalled. Parks says it caught fire as she drove near Columbus, Ohio, last summer."We hear someone yell fire, and by the time we had noticed anything, there was fire coming from underneath the car," Parks said.She told the I-Team the car was still rolling to a stop when both she and her friend jumped out.“I watched the car roll past me on fire."The I-Team also found 2018 Kia Souls catching fire, according to three reports filed with federal regulators. Kia reports these Soul fires are rare and can be caused by any number of factors not related to engine defects.In August, 34-year-old Jordan Carlton died of his injuries a year after his rented 2019 Kia Soul went up in flames as he drove down a Hawaiian highway. Pepsi is buying one of the world's top sparkling water brands.The drinks company announced Monday that it would take over SodaStream, an Israeli company that sells do-it-yourself seltzer makers, in a deal worth .2 billion.The move will boost Pepsi's efforts to shift from its traditional high-calorie soft drinks business to offering healthier options.SodaStream's products, marketed as a healthy alternative to sugary sodas, fit Pepsi's goal of "making more nutritious products while limiting our environmental footprint," Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi said in a statement. PETA wants to make sure a bunch of lobsters killed in a vehicle wreck last week in Maine aren't forgotten.The animal rights group, formally known as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, sent a letter to the Maine Department of Transportation asking for permission to install a 5-foot tombstone for the deceased crustaceans along a highway in Brunswick.That's where a local seafood distributor's truck -- loaded with about 70 crates of lobsters -- overturned, CNN affiliate WGME reports, spilling thousands of them onto the roadway."It was something I've never seen before," Brunswick police Detective William Moir told the station. "Some lobsters were loose on the ground from being spilled over so we went to work to save the ones we could."The requested memorial would feature a picture of a lobster with the words "In Memory of the lobsters who suffered and died at this spot, August 2018." Police say there is no ongoing threat to safety after four Wisconsin high school students were caught plotting a school shooting on Facebook Messenger.Four juvenile suspects from Eau Claire took part in the group chat, which police say indicated that "a mass shooting would occur at Memorial High School on Monday, March 26." The group chat included photographs of guns and "several specific statements" related to a planned shooting.All four are students at Memorial and have been referred to Eau Claire County Juvenile Intake for making terrorist threats.Eau Claire Police say the threat was originally reported on March 16.
