He was transported to a hospital where he died Friday morning. The driver of the car was not injured and stayed on the scene after the crash. BONITA, Calif. (KGTV) - The fate of a decades-old neighborhood icon in Bonita is about to be decided in court. For nearly 23 years, Nisreen Stephan and her family have been making pizza at their pizza shop, Giant Pizza King, on Central Avenue. But these days, running her business includes a slice of uncertainty. "Very stressful and very sad," said Stephan.Next Monday, Stephan and her husband will head to court. Their landlord, Alcott Estates, L.P., says their lease has expired, but the Stephans argue they exercised an extension that gives them another 2 years. Stephan says the landlord crossed out the extension option on their lease without their approval."They should honor the rest of the lease," said Stephan. The landlord's plan: to replace their business with a drive-thru Starbucks. Right now, less than 200 feet away, is a Starbucks in the same shopping plaza. That Starbucks would reportedly be replaced by parking."This is our retirement, our nest egg ... I love Bonita. It's like a part of the family. I want to serve as along as I can," said Stephan."This place is like second home. It's the best and it has to stay," said longtime customer Mike Troy.Stephan says it they are forced to close, she's hopeful of opening at another site in Bonita. A spokesperson for the shopping center declined comment, citing pending litigation.10news reached out to Starbucks but have not heard back. 1409

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Three sisters in Boca Raton do not remember much about their mom, but as Mother’s Day approaches, they are reminded those are the only memories of her they will ever have. “One memory about my mom is that she would always take me places and let me play with my things,” said 9-year-old Brady Gemstone.“I remember mommy’s pointy nose, and that she dyed her hair,” 5-year-old Blain Gemstone said.“She was very understanding and nice,” said 11-year-old Bryce Gemstone, “and she was always there.”But one day, Gemma Burlakoff wasn’t there anymore for her three girls. That memory stings the most.“I’m happy because I still have someone to do [Mother’s Day] with, but I’m sad because I don’t have my real mom to do it with,” the youngest, Blain said, clutching a doll as she spoke.“Sometimes if I think about my mom, I think about my dad, and it makes me think about what happened,” said Brady, who remembers the most about the night her mother was killed, The Gemstone sister did not just lose their mother. They lost their father too.One fight, five years agoOn the outside, Gemma and Ian Burlakoff looked like the picture-perfect Boca Raton couple: a successful business, a large home, society and community involvement, designer outfits and cars, and their three beautiful daughters enjoyed an education at an expensive private school.  1372

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A man is under arrest after police say several pipe bombs were found near a Florida strip mall Wednesday night.Gregory Haasze, 34, has been arrested on 26 counts of making, possessing, throwing, projecting, placing, or discharging a destructive device.Police said the bombs were found in the area of Congress Avenue and Old Boynton Road in Boynton Beach following reports of a loud noise in the area on Wednesday.Officers temporarily shut down nearby roads and businesses as they investigated the suspected pipe bombs. They also evacuated apartments, homes and stores in the area out of an abundance of caution. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.A resident told WPTV she had to wait for more than an hour to get home."Since the Fourth of July, there have been really loud noises in the neighborhood," the neighbor said. "The only thing that could make that kind of sound is a bomb. I've never heard anything that loud before. When you're outside it hurts your ears it's so loud."Police said residents were eventually able to get back in their homes by 12:30 a.m. on Thursday. 1181

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, millions of people have not had to repay their federal student loans.Well, that's about to change when the administrative forbearance ends on Dec. 31.According to Federal Student Aid, your monthly payments will resume at a new amount when the forbearance ends."The 0% interest period and administrative forbearance are currently set to expire on Dec. 31, 2020," FAFSA officials stated on the FAQ. "Your servicer will contact you ahead of time to remind you that you will need to start making payments again. Make sure your contact information is up to date in your loan servicer account profile."So what exactly does it mean for you once the forbearance ends?It means borrowers will start getting billed sometime in January, and if you're in default, you'll be subject to wage garnishments, tax refund seizures, and offsets of Social Security benefits. If you think you won't be able to start repaying your loans, you have options.According to Nerd Wallet, if you can't pay the monthly payments, you can apply for an income-driven repayment plan to avoid default.Another option that could help is to pause payments through forbearance or an unemployment deferment, Nerd Wallet stated. This would halt your costs, but you'd be accruing interest during the pause. You can ask to make interest-only payments, so you don't have to owe more than you already do. 1399
