CHANGSHA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Ten people have been confirmed dead after two manganese mines in central China's Hunan Province were flooded two weeks ago, local authorities said Monday.Water gushed into the two mine pits run by Leixin Mining Development Co. and Wenhua Manganese Co. in Huayuan County of Xiangxi Tujia-Miao Autonomous Prefecture at about 6:10 p.m. on July 20, trapping a total of 13 miners underground.Rescuers pulled three miners alive out of the mines on July 29 and sent them to hospital. Currently, they are in stable condition, a spokesman with the Hunan Provincial Work Safety Administration said Monday.Rescuers had earlier retrieved seven bodies, and they found the last three bodies on Sunday morning, the spokesman said.Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the accident, he added.

URUMQI, June 16 (Xinhua) -- A total of 380 Chinese nationals had returned home aboard Chinese chartered flights as of Tuesday night from southern Kyrgyzstan where ethnic clashes have left some 170 people dead.The Chinese government has sent four chartered planes to bring home nationals including business people and students in Kyrgyzstan. Three chartered planes dispatched on Monday and Tuesday have returned and the fourth one left at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday an airport in Urumqi, capital of northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, for Osh of Kyrgyzstan to fly home more Chinese nationals.More than 600 Chinese nationals living around Osh have been sent to the city's airport with help from the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassy in Kyrgyzstan. BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country's top economic planner, refuted on Monday recent reports online saying China is mulling adjustments of electricity prices, claiming such reports "untrue" .The NDRC said in a statement on its website that recently there were reports online saying the NDRC was studying plans to adjust electricity prices, citing Li Jing, deputy head of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection at NDRC. Reports said she has not given the timetable for the plan.The statement further said she never made such remarks to media and the reports were groundless.The NDRC began a rise in the price of electricity for non-residential use by 2.8 fen (0.4 cents) per kwh on average nationwide on November 20 last year, with residential electricity prices unchanged.
