SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Northbound lanes of Interstate 5 through National City were shut down early Saturday following a deadly crash.The two-vehicle collision occurred just after the State Route 54 connector, according to California Highway Patrol. All traffic was being diverted off I-5 at the Mile of Cars. Traffic was also being diverted off WB SR-54 onto Highland Ave.Traffic gridlocked in the area, backing up onto the E St. on ramp in Chula Vista and westbound Sr-54 connector, according to CHP. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Nearly a year after the city opened a facility for the homeless to store their belonging in, residents say they are still being impacted.“There’s human feces all over the alleys,” said one community member during the public comment.At the meeting, a Lieutenant with the San Diego Police Department’s homeless outreach team announced they would be adding a foot patrol in the area starting next week.For the first time, representatives from the County of San Diego said they will also be diverting resources to the area to help with mental health issues.Meantime, the city is searching for another location to open a storage facility in District 9.While the exact location has not yet been announced, officials said two sites are currently being considered, at least one of them is in City Heights. 824

According to San Diego Police, the woman’s body was found Saturday at an unspecified time near a hiking trail in Tecolote Canyon Park. Police believe the woman was in her mid to late 20s. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 830 pounds of narcotics, over .5 million and 20 fugitives were captured over the weekend in San Diego and Imperial Valley counties.Border officials said the seizures occurred from Friday, March 9 to Sunday, March 11. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted 465 pounds of methamphetamine, 85 pounds of cocaine, 45 pounds of heroin, and 240 pounds of marijuana.The drugs were hidden within various places inside vehicles, including door panels, floors, and gas tanks.RELATED: US border officer falsely claimed to be US citizen, authorities claimDuring that same period of time, officials arrested 20 people for various charges including sex assault, embezzlement, burglary, shoplifting, and probation violation."Narcotics smugglers try to conceal their illegal items in many voids naturally found in vehicles," Pete Flores, director of field operations for CBP in San Diego, said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - North and South Korea made history Friday by agreeing to officially end the peninsula's civil war. The move brings back chilling memories for Korean War vets in San Diego. 10News reporter Jennifer Delacruz sat down with one of those vets ahead of an Honor Flight to the Washington, D.C. next week. Bob Weishan's trophy room takes him back to a different time -- a time of conflict and destruction."It was interesting," said Weishan. "It's a whole different world that they live in."But when the 87-year-old Korean War veteran looks back today, it's a little different. "It should have happened a long time ago."The resolution of peace between North and South Korea puts even more meaning into the 15 months he was there fighting for freedom.   "You had two options," said Weishan. "One was stay in the trucks and burn to death, or climb out of the trucks and get shot."One of his most haunting memories was watching 100,000 refugees fleeing for their lives. "They were carrying everything they owned with them."Having been there in the trenches, he knows how much his agreement means to those families who left and those still there today. "For the North Koreans, I think they're on their knees every night with prayers that this is a success and that this doesn't fail because it gives them a way out."Although it's still early on, he says it's a step in the right direction. "It's a little bit of hope," said Weishan. "At least they're talking. And if something comes out of it, it could be good."Weishan joins about 25 other vets who leave for their Honor Flight on May 4th.  1670
