Prosecutors say she caused the children to be in a situation that was likely to produce great bodily injury and death.Her husband, Jonathan Allen, is facing charges that include torture and felony child abuse. ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A 31-year-old man was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of seriously injuring another man with a hatchet during a fight at an Escondido transit center, police said. Dispatchers received a call around 9:40 p.m. Monday from a person who reported that two men were fighting at the Escondido Transit Center on West Valley Parkway, west of Centre City Parkway, Escondido police Sgt. Mike Graesser said. Officers responded to the scene and found both men near the transit center suffering from serious injuries, Graesser said. (KGTV) -- Encinitas lifeguards are investigating after a Panga Boat washed ashore Friday afternoon.According to lifeguards, the 20-foot boat washed ashore around 4 p.m. on the 300 block of El Portal Street and about 11 people ran from the vessel.Lifeguards say they don’t believe anyone was injured or needed medical attention.Border Patrol, Homeland Security, and the Sheriff’s Department were all notified about the incident. (KGTV) — An Escondido home that was engulfed in flames early Friday reignited for a second time later the same day.The home in the 800 block of Via Rancho Parkway first ignited just before 2:40 a.m., according to Escondido Fire Department. Fire investigators believe that the fire started in the home's garage and spread to the attic.One adult, three children, and five pets were inside the home when the fire began. The pets woke up one of the children, prompting the family to escape the home.One of the pets, a cat, died in the fire, according to Escondido Fire. The American Red Cross helped the family find lodging after being displaced.Later Friday, just before 6 p.m., the home re-ignited, prompting another round of firefighting.The cause of both fires has not been identified. 811

(KGTV) — Police are searching for the driver responsible for hitting and killing a woman on a North County freeway this week.A person lying on the right shoulder of westbound State route 78 under the Rock Springs Rd. overcrossing was reported to police just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to California Highway Patrol.Escondido Fire Department and CHP found a 26-year-old female from Escondido, who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, dead on the right shoulder.No vehicle was found at the scene. CHP is investigating how and why the woman was on the freeway.The suspect vehicle is described as a 2017/2018 Mercedes Benz E-Class sedan and believed to be green.
