SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Home prices in the US fell in May while San Diego home prices remained flat and rents rose sharply, according to a new Zillow report. Zillow says the median home in San Diego is now worth 1,000. In the US, the median home is worth 6,800, down 0.1 percent from April. Overall, Zillow says home values in the US grew by more than 5 percent year-over-year. Some good news however, is that San Diego’s housing supply is increasing. Zillow says inventory is up 11.5 percent year-over-year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, the coronavirus has made an already stressful time even more troubling."Absolutely," says Christie Kinghorn. Her daughter, Lexi, is getting treatment for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome at Rady Children's Hospital. They're living at the Ronald McDonald House for about a month."I know the coronavirus has been hard on everyone," she explains. "But to deal with significant medical issues and be seeking treatment out of state during a pandemic was very difficult."To help keep their guests safe, the Ronald McDonald House put in new protocols throughout the facility."We used to have a very busy facility with people coming in and out throughout the daytime," says President Chuck Day. "Now, we've focused on our two critical services - overnight stays for families who need us and meals."Day says the facility has fewer guests now, as fewer people are going to Rady's for treatment or elective procedures. Typically, the Ronald McDonald House has 56 families staying in it, with another 30 on a waiting list. Right now, they only have 25 families on the campus."The main thing was to make sure we knew about the family staying at the house, are they safe, have they had any instance of exposure to COVID anytime," says Day.Before anyone checks in, they have to have a negative result on a coronavirus test. Visitors and staff also get temperature checks and health screenings to look for symptoms every time they enter the building.Social distancing and mask-wearing are also strictly enforced.As for meal service, Day says the cafeteria is now offering grab-and-go meals to families staying on campus. No one is allowed to eat in the large communal dining area.For people who come by to get meals while they spend time at the hospital, the Ronald McDonald House has set up a cooler outside with bagged meals.But all the extra precaution takes extra funding. As part of National Nonprofit Day on August 17, the Ronald McDonald House will match donations, up to 5,000. They also have a wish list of supplies set up on Amazon and their website."We went out and asked people who love us, 'Would you help us?' And they said, 'Yes.' A heatwave is expected to settle into San Diego County starting about mid-week.Temperatures will be 12 to 20 degrees above average for mid-October starting around Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The hottest temperatures are expected between Wednesday and Friday, with some locations around the county likely to see record highs.On Wednesday, the NWS forecasts highs of 96 degrees in Escondido, 89 in Oceanside and Mira Mesa, 95 in El Cajon, and 86 in San Diego. 557

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LEGOLAND had to shut its doors back in March. But that doesn't mean kids are losing out on the LEGO fun. LEGO "Master Builder" Jessica Ewud is passing along her creative knowledge through virtual LEGO art classes. "To keep the kids occupied," says Ewud. "While they are stuck inside during this pandemic with nothing to do."Ewud is a professional artist who was looking to transform her art in a creative way. Then one night, she had a dream she created an Abraham Lincoln made out of LEGO. She thought the idea was so brilliant, she went out and got the materials to make it."I'd always thought of Lego as a kids toy, but as an artist, I was looking at it differently. I was looking at it as an art medium," she said.Her art creations got her noticed, and she was chosen to participate in the competition show, LEGO Masters, where she became a show finalist. She also has one of her LEGO artworks on display at LEGOLAND."I got selected out of thousands of people to be on Lego Masters, and my peacock is on display at LEGOLAND," says Ewud.And now she is passing along her knowledge, by offering virtual LEGO art classes."I'm offering some awesome classes online via Outschool," said Ewud. "I try to make my classes as engaging and creative as possible. I feel when kids are stuck inside, the best thing they can do is be creative." 1391

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Fitness center chain 24 Hour Fitness is permanently closing hundreds of locations across the U.S., including four in San Diego County.The company shut down all of its facilities earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite many states allowing for the reopening of gyms, 24 Hour Fitness “made the difficult decision to close” certain locations.Four San Diego County gyms will be shuttered:Chula Vista (320 Third Ave.)La Jolla (7680 Girard Ave.)San Marcos (641 S.
