A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing three people after they invited him over for Thanksgiving at their Avondale, Arizona, home. Court records show 33-year-old Brandon Robinson met two of the victims days before at a bar. Robinson had explained to them that he didn’t have family in town or a place to go for Thanksgiving, so they invited him to their home. According to one of the victims, after about 15 minutes at the home, Robinson began to act erratic and grabbed a knife approximately eight inches in length. Robinson then allegedly stabbed all three of the victims with the knife. One of the victims, a male, was stabbed approximately seven times and was hospitalized in critical condition. One female victim was stabbed approximately five times and had to have surgery for injuries. A second female victim had one stab wound but did not need to be hospitalized.Robinson reportedly left the scene before police arrived, but was located nearby with a large cut on his hand.No motive for the attack has been given.Robinson has been arrested and faces three charges of aggravated assault. 1116

Long Island teachers did a different kind of safety dance to prepare students for the new school year. Teachers at Lenox Elementary School in the Baldwin School District filmed a parody of the Men Without Hats song and altered the lyrics to focus on coronavirus and social distancing. Music Teacher Christine Benedetti and teacher Tom Duffy lead the project. "I think showing the masks and showing us washing our hands is the way we model good behavior for the students," Benedetti said.Students watched the video Tuesday to learn about the health and safety requirements in school. Newly released body camera video shows a Florida officer getting hurt during a boat rescue as Tropical Storm Barry stirred the waters. Deputy Robert Wagner is part of the marine unit with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. He was at the helm of a safe boat in the Destin East Pass Friday, trying to help a distressed boater, when a gigantic wave went over the bow and shattered the windshield. According to the department, water conditions were very rough because of Tropical Storm Barry. "Tropical Storm Barry has been no picnic for the OCSO Marine Unit!" the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said in the Facebook post about the rescue. 654

A group surrounded and attacked an NYPD officer in Lower Manhattan, police said Thursday. Pictures released from the May 28 attack at Albany Street and West Avenue show two men accused in the attack. One man pushed the 37-year-old officer to the ground and punched him in the face. The second man repeatedly struck the officer with his skateboard. Police said the officer was treated for a bloody nose along with bruising and pain to the head and shoulder. On his urban farm, Sean Conway is doing more than cultivating his next crop. He's helping grow the next generation of farmers. Conway is a mentor at the GoFarm incubator program, which pairs young farmers with established ones. “I wish that there was like an incubator program available to me in the Denver area at the time, because it would have helped me out a lot,” Conway says. After seven years of farming, Conway says he struggled at first. “I didn't really have enough experience to start farming on my own, so I made a lot of mistakes,” he admits. Now, the GoFarm incubator program is making sure these apprentices don't make the same mistakes Conway did. The program is a mix of hands-on training and classroom work, creating a path to farm ownership. “Two percent of the U.S. population is actually in an agricultural career, which is pretty crazy, so trying to increase the amount of farmers we have will affect the entire community,” says Natalie Fioretti with GoFarm. Apprentice Shelby Johnson knew she wanted to be a farmer, but had no idea where to begin.“The odds are really, really stacked against young farmers in a lot of ways, and especially as a young, queer woman of color from the south, it's like quadra stacked against me,” Johnson says. Johnson says thanks to GoFarm, she has resources and opportunities to network, while learning from older farmers.There are farming training programs like GoFarm across the country.
