SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County health officials announced Wednesday that three more people died from complications from the flu bringing the county's death toll this season to 49.The deceased were described as an 84-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman from San Diego, and a 50-year-old woman from East County, according to County of San Diego Communications Office spokesperson Jose A. Alvarez.All three had underlying medical conditions.“Influenza activity in the region is still elevated. People should continue taking precautions to avoid getting sick,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The flu vaccine is safe and effective.”This season's death toll is far lower than last season. 307 San Diegans died from complications from the flu through this time last year.The number of people with influenza-like symptoms who showed up at local emergency departments went up one percentage point last week, reaching 6 percent again.The flu claimed the county's first young victim Feb. 20. Over the last year, about 106,000 San Diegans have lost their payroll jobs. San Diego's recovering job market is facing new headwinds from the latest round of coronavirus restrictions. The purple tier bans indoor dining and limits retail capacity to 25%. And on Saturday, the governor's curfew of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. goes into effect. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego home values continue to grow as the market shows signs of slowing, according to a report by Zillow. The company says the median home value in San Diego currently sits at 1,500, rising just over one percent year-over-year. According to Zillow, at this time last year, home values were growing by about 6.1 percent. San Diego’s housing inventory also increased over the last year, jumping six percent. According to the site, there are 531 more homes on the market than last July. In the rest of the U.S., the median home is worth 9,000, up 5.2 percent from a year ago. By this time last year, home values in the U.S. rose at 7.7 percent. Despite the slowing trend, Zillow says home values are still growing in 48 of the top 50 markets. Zillow says San Jose and San Francisco are the exceptions, indicating stabilizing values following a period of extreme growth. 906
