Colorado's First Gentleman, Marlon Reis, is now in the hospital due to worsening COVID-19 symptoms. Both Reis and Gov. Jared Polis tested positive for COVID-19 last Saturday. At the time, Polis said both of them had only mild symptoms.Over the weekend, Reis started to experience a slightly worsening cough and shortness of breath eight days after being diagnosed with COVID-19, according to the press release from the governor's office. As a precaution, Gov. Polis drove Reis to the hospital in his personal vehicle to be reviewed and treated. Polis says he is not experiencing any additional symptoms at this time.Reis posted on Facebook about the hospital trip, and said it was precautionary and used the message to encourage mask wearing.“Friends,Today, on day eight of my bout with Coronavirus, I experienced a worsening cough and shortness of breath. My doctor suggested that as a precaution I go to the hospital, so a few hours ago Jared drove me to the hospital where I was admitted and am now being closely monitored.“In addition to your kind thoughts and prayers for me and everyone else afflicted by this horrible virus, please be extra careful to avoid getting it. Wearing a mask properly reduces your risk by half! Also, make sure to avoid social gatherings (right now one in forty Coloradans are contagious with Coronavirus) and keep a distance from others.“I hope to be home soon!”Polis also posted a message to Reis’s Facebook page:“Marlon wanted me to convey how much he appreciates the hundreds of people who have reached out to wish him well on email, Facebook, and text. Reading the kind words and thoughts brings great joy to him as he recuperates. He also wanted me to share that he hopes to be well enough to reply in a few days but for now he wants me to thank everyone and let everyone know that he feels the love. -Jared”This story originally reported by Blayke Roznowski on TheDenverChannel.com. 1929

CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - Coronado residents who felt the need for speed found themselves stuck in traffic Monday as a prop fighter jet from the Top Gun sequel was moved on city streets. The F-14 fighter was hauled through traffic to the Coronado Bridge on its way to East San Diego County about 9 p.m. A witness stuck in the backup told 10News it was a tight squeeze on the small streets. “They had to do a little backing up, and back and forth for a few minutes,” Emily Foster said. “It finally pulled through and missed a parked car by inches.” The jet, which belongs to the San Diego Air and Space Museum Gillespie Field Annex, was used for the filming of Top Gun 2 at Naval Air Station North Island over the winter. During filming, the F-14 never took flight. “You’ll see it move in the movie, but that’s movie stuff,” said Annex manager Jeff Eads. Crews disassembled the jet for its trip from Coronado to East County. “Take wings off of it, the elevators, the horizontal stabilizers,” said Eads, who had the job of putting it back together.Photos posted on the SDASM Annex Facebook page showed the fighter jet being returned to Gillespie Field with the unique Top Gun markings on its side.Air and Space Museum officials were not able to disclose details about the terms of the plane's involvement in the movie. 1324

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus police chief announced action to terminate the officer who fatally shot a Black man. He also filed two departmental charges alleging critical misconduct against Officer Adam Coy. "After an expedited investigation, I have sustained those charges. Based on these findings I am recommending discipline of termination of Officer Adam Coy," Police Chief Tom Quinlan said in a video that was uploaded to the police department's Facebook page on Thursday. 486

CORONADO, Calif., (KGTV) — Some Coronado residents are shocked and confused after getting a letter from the City, urging them to read the newly released Environmental Impact Report for the airport's "Land Use Compatibility Plan."Many worried that a new airport would be coming into Naval Air Base North Island. However, as 10News discovered, the San Diego Regional Airport Authority has no plans to expand the airport into the Coronado. Custom golf cart maker, Mike Matheny and his dog, Buddy, love everything about Coronado — even the blaring jet noise. "Well, that's the sound of freedom to me," Matheny said. But when he and his neighbors got a letter from the City of Coronado, urging residents to read the Environmental Impact Report for "Naval Air Station North Island Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan," many wondered, are they expanding the airport onto the base?"I think there are other avenues," Matheny said. "Everybody's talking about Brown Field being the most ideal. Expanding that and so forth. But I don't want it here in Coronado. I know that."Just the thought of commercial planes constantly roaring above his home, the increased traffic, and property values taking a nosedive made Matheny nervous. So 10News asked the San Diego Regional Airport Authority to clear the air. Are there plans to expand the airport into Coronado?"None whatsoever," Airport Authority manager, Ralph Redman, said. It turns out the 182-page document is one of 16 state-mandated reports that assess the environmental impacts of the current airport onto surrounding neighborhoods. The report shows there are no significant impacts to Coronado residents, except in the "Land Use and Planning" category. If adopted, 1,000 residents who live in the same area as Matheny would have strict restrictions on future property developments. "We wouldn't want a school or a high rise building to be built right off the end of a runway," Redman said. "We are trying to limit the amount of density that would go into that area."So with no plans for a new airport, Matheny and Buddy can breathe a sigh of relief. Back to living the life in his sweet Coronado home. "Every time you come across the bridge, you just feel like you're in paradise," Matheny said. The Airport Authority is asking stakeholders and Coronado residents to submit their input on the Environmental Study by Feb. 7, 2020. In the end, the City of Coronado will decide if they will adopt the Airport Authority's Plan. That vote will take place this spring. 2515

College students and loans seem to go hand in hand, and student loan debt is an ever increasing problem in the U.S.But it might surprise you what some college students are doing with any excess loan money they may have after paying for things like tuition, books, and housing.A study by the Student Loan Report found that approximately one out of every five students with loans have used loan money in some form to invest in cryptocurrencies—in other words, things like Bitcoin. But financial advisers caution that may not be the best decision.“My gut reaction,” said financial advisor Martin Walsh with Brown and Tedstrom, “is that it’s probably a bad idea.”Walsh said using borrowed dollars to invest in speculative assets, such as Bitcoin, would make him “very nervous.”Cryptocurrency is the formal word for a type of digital money that uses encryption to transfer funds, independently of a central bank.Walsh cautions:  “buyer beware.”“There’s been a ton of talk about cryptocurrency over the last year,” Walsh said, “mostly because of the massive run up in price.”Bitcoin — the biggest player in the Crypto game—saw prices for their “coins” at around ,000 in December. But fast forward two months to February and the price plummeted to ,000.Walsh has had clients ask about it mostly because “their friends have invested in them and have made money.”  But he says that as a general rule the firm he works for, Brown and Tedstrom, won’t advise clients to invest in cryptocurrency.“It seems fun and easy, and things have doubled, tripled, even quadrupled. But there’s incredible volatility in investing in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies,” said Walsh.Paul Foley, a big supporter of the technology behind cryptocurrency, says he has invested “quite a bit” in Ethereum, another player in the cryptocurrency realm. He says anyone investing now should see this as a “10 to 15 year plan”—not a short term way to make money.“I plan on holding for a very long time,” said Foley. But even he says that the notion of using borrowed funds, i.e. student loans, to invest in speculative assets like Ethereum is “a terrible idea.”Both Foley and Walsh say anyone looking to invest in this emerging field needs to do their homework. They both believe that the more uneducated people there are who decide to jump in the market on a whim, the greater the chances of a “bubble” bursting, similar to the housing market crash of 2008. 2440
