A 15-year-old boy from Virginia earned a free cruise thanks to his Snapchat account handle.Darian Lipscomb of Prospect, Virginia, received a request from Carnival Cruise Lines to trade his Snapchat username (@CarnivalCruise) for a free trip, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.The company showed up at his home to convince him.“I answered the door, walked outside and saw my name on a big truck. I was really surprised,” he said.Lipscomb said he chose the username in 2012 (he was 9 years old at the time) to share snaps from his cruise experiences.“When I was 9 years old, I went on a cruise and got really excited and wanted to share it with my friends,” he said.Carnival sought out the name because it’s their brand name. The cruise line began an entire campaign to woo Lipscomb. A 13-year-old middle school student from Elkhorn, Nebraska was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of terroristic threats. According to a release, the student made non-specific threats on a national social media gaming website on Wednesday. After he was questioned Wednesday, he made similar non-specific threats again on Thursday on a different social media platform. The student was booked in the Douglas County Youth Center. Because of his age, his name was not released. Elkhorn Public Schools released a statement: "On Wednesday, law enforcement investigated an Elkhorn Valley View Middle School student regarding a nonspecific threat made on a national social media gaming website. Elkhorn Public Schools administration cooperated fully with local law enforcement throughout the investigation.  Elkhorn Public Schools takes all threats seriously, and in this situation, at no time did we feel students were in immediate danger. Parents of the student affected received an email on Wednesday afternoon, informing them of the situation." Captain Wayne Hudson with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said deputies will be patrolling schools more closely in upcoming days given the alleged threats. Hudson says law enforcement agencies across the nation are not taking any potential copycat shooting threats lightly and encourage people to report any suspicious activity. "The whole thing of, if you hear something, say something — we need that information. (KGTV) - When it comes to lifting up someone in need and changing lives, it only takes one person to make a difference. Owning a busy auto repair shop in Vista isn’t enough for TJ Crossman. Life hasn’t always been easy for him as a cancer survivor, widower and single dad. Four years ago, Crossman discovered ‘Wheels to Prosper’, a nationwide collective of independently owned auto shops that fix up cars and give them away to people in need. Crossman put out the word on social media and applications came pouring in. “I’ve heard about people with cancer, elderly, homeless and want to live in the car,” Crossman said. Applications came pouring in. “It catches on; it’s infectious,” said Crossman. Last year a car was awarded to 19-year-old Matthew Haynes, a heart transplant recipient who spent months in the hospital. “When I learned i won, it was overwhelming. It was great,” said Haynes. “I loved the stereo, the trunk, the seats; I love the whole car.” Two years ago the Tapia family was selected. Their daughter has a rare genetic disorder and needs to be driven to Rady Children’s Hospital on a regular basis. The family car had broken down and ignited on the side of the road. “When we were blessed with this it was an amazing feeling. I know I broke down and cried,” said Michelle Tapia.
