Alifan Drive into roughly 50 apartments for the homeless. The location is near the Vons shopping plaza.“It’s just not acceptable. I’m not against homeless shelters by any means but this is not the proper location,” said Mark Bromley. He believes the site is too close to homes and schools.San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate said the developer has not yet applied for a permit to start the project. Cate told 10News he can’t give his opinion on the project in case the issue goes before the Council.Organizers shut down the planned open house after more than 200 people attended due to possible fire code violations given the size of the crowd.Another informational meeting is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday at a larger location. 973

Feeding San Diego’s goal is to eliminate these worries and end food insecurity in San Diego. According to Feeding San Diego, giving kids healthy food options will help them succeed in the classroom. “It helps with the snacks and the munching. Instead of some chips or candy, they get some fruits and vegetables up in their system. It makes me feel like a good mom,” Cynthia Correa said. Correa is a mom of four and is part of Feeding San Diego's program in Oceanside, where she visits San Luis Rey Elementary school each month to pick out fresh fruits, vegetables, and other items for her and her family. Correa says the free access has given her some financial relief. “Healthier food seems to be more expensive than junk food. So, it has helped my family a lot. It’s taking the weight off,” Correa said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Funerals will be held next Thursday for two teenagers killed when they mistakenly jumped off a freeway bridge on SR-56 after a crash. 18-year-old Ruben Ortiz Jr. and 17-year-old Jesse Garcia of Escondido were in a 2012 Nissan Altima that went out of control and crashed in Carmel Valley Tuesday night. The teens and four other people got out of the car and ran across eastbound lanes of the freeway. Ortiz and Garcia jumped over the railing, not realizing it was an 80-foot drop into Gonzales Creek. Two girls who had been in the vehicle, 14 and 15 years old, suffered severe injuries and remain in the hospital. “It sat at me and hit me and our community.
