KHARTOUM, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese official said Saturday that the China-Arab Cooperation Forum constitutes an important platform to upgrade the economic, commercial and social ties between China and the Arab world."The China-Arab Cooperation Forum is important as it constitutes one of the major mechanisms to enhance and strengthen the economic and commercial relations between the Arab states and China," Abdul-Baqui Jailani, Sudanese state minister for humanitarian affairs, told Xinhua, one week before a ministerial conference of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum scheduled for May 13, in Tianjin, China.Jailani regarded the Sino-Sudanese cooperation as a model for the Arab countries to follow suit, saying that "Chinese experience in Sudan deserves to be studied thoroughly and it deserves to be repeated elsewhere in any other African or Arab country"."I think if we take for example oil industry, exploration and production services, the Chinese have proved to be at the highest level of development in this industry in particular, and I think we can develop this in other similar countries where there are reserves of petroleum," he added.He went on to say that "China is working with full transparency; they can build confidence with others without any hindrances or obstacles."The Sudanese official further called upon the Arab and African countries as well to give the Chinese a chance to invest and cooperate, adding that "such cooperation will result in mutual benefit for both China and others nations."He affirmed that China's contribution to establishment of development projects in Sudan would help in achieving lasting stability and peace in the country, saying that "for example, if we concentrate on development, on infrastructure, we will come to peace in Darfur. China is providing good services in this respect. ""The same thing could be said about the south. We need to concentrate on developing the south and China stands with us in this respect. BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government has allocated another 200 million yuan (29.3 million U.S. dollars) to quake relief in the northwest Qinghai Province on top of 500 million yuan already earmarked, the Ministry of Finance said Friday.The funds will support relief efforts, including resettlement, subsidy on daily necessities, medical care, epidemic prevention, re-opening of schools, and infrastructure repairs, according to the ministry's website.The ministry ordered timely allotment and tightened management of the relief funds to help the quake-affected residents to restore production and life as early as possible.The 7.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Qinghai's Yushu prefecture on April 14 had left at least 2,200 people dead, with more than 100,000 homeless.

BEIJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Ministry of Education plan to open an online recruitment service for the first time to mobilize college graduates this year, a move seen as an effort to sharpen the army's high-tech edge.The PLA plans to recruit some 150,000 college graduates this year, according to a statement released after a meeting held Thursday by the PLA General Staff Headquarters and the ministry.Last year, China announced a series of preferential policies to encourage more young people with higher education to serve in the army, including a one-off payment of up to 24,000 yuan (3,500 U.S. dollars) for the student-turned soldiers. The money, paid by the central government, roughly equals the tuition cost of a four-year university education in China.Some 130,000 college graduates applied to join the army in 2009 and more than 100,000 were recruited, statistics from the statement show.Moreover, the age limit has been extended to 24 for those with a bachelor degree.
