Although cruise liners are momentarily docked due to the coronavirus pandemic, Carnival Cruise Line is already planning their next trip to sea - with a new edition onboard. On Sunday, the company posted a video showing its new roller coaster, Bolt, that will be placed onto their Mardi Gras ship."Aboard the Mardi Gras, you’ll meet BOLT?: the fastest — and first! — roller coaster at sea, but before that take a look at Cruise Director Matt Mitcham making a special visit to the test track of BOLT? in Munich, Germany," the company said about the roller coaster. "Once on Mardi Gras, you'll get to strap in and zoom your motorcycle-style speed machine around an open-air course high, high above sea level."Another cool feature about the roller coaster is that the rider gets to control how fast it goes. The ship is set to debut in February 2021 from Florida's Port Canaveral, the company said. 900

After a brief flirtation with resurrection, Nickelodeon's "Double Dare" is back -- for real, this time. The game show favorite will return to the network this summer to give "a new generation of kids the chance to compete in the messiest and most physically challenging competition of their lives," Nickelodeon announced Wednesday. The decision to bring the series back comes about a year and a half after Nickelodeon paid tribute to the game show with a 30th Anniversary special."Double Dare" ran on Nickelodeon from 1986-93 and was revived for brief run in 2000.The original show was hosted by Marc Summers and co-hosted by Robin Marella. It is not yet known who will host the new iteration. Though, Nickelodeon said the revived series "will feature appearances from blasts from the past, long-time 'Double Dare' fans and stars from today."On "Double Dare," two teams compete against each other for prizes by answering trivia questions and completing some often-messy physical challenges, all culminating in a run of the show's kid-friendly obstacle course. Access to city and county beaches will be limited for the Fourth of July weekend because of the statewide and local spike in COVID-19 cases. An order banning vehicular access to Nueces County bay and gulf beaches goes into effect Friday morning at 6 a.m. and ends at 6 a.m. July 7.The restrictions also include golf carts and all-terrain vehicles. What the order does not address is where the thousands of beach visitors expected this holiday weekend will be able to park. With beaches limited to pedestrians only, parking places will be at a premium because once they’re gone, you’re going to have to walk.Just a few weeks ago, local officials expected thousands of tourists flocking to Padre Island and packed beaches, similar to what we saw Memorial Day weekend.“You could have driven that beach and you weren’t going to find a space to get in on the beach,” said Director of Coastal Parks Scott Cross.Nueces County tried a similar plan over Easter weekend, with mixed results.“Easter weekend when we closed it down, it proved to us that the honor system is not going to work with these cables and barricades,” said Cross. This weekend, the county will keep vehicles out by blocking access roads with giant sand berms. While public parking near the beach is limited, local leaders aren’t worried.“We don’t expect traffic volumes to be where we thought they would be about two weeks ago,” said Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni.Even though Corpus Christi is a tourist destination, Zanoni believes now is not the time for out-of-town visitors.“We have a crisis going on here in our county; we’re one of the fastest-growing areas in terms of new COVID cases every day,” said Zanoni.City and county leaders worked closely to get beach orders out as early as possible to give potential visitors plenty of notice.“Hopefully people will hear the warnings, hear the advice,” said Zanoni. “If they do make it here it’s going to be a tough walk from anywhere on the island to the beach, I’m not sure that will be in their best interests.”“It’s really important that we do this for the safety of the people living here and the safety of people visiting here,” added Cross.KRIS' Greg Chandler first reported this story. 2221

A woman claims she suffered a small cut on her finger from the nail salon she's been going to for more than a decade. Two weeks later, she found herself in the hospital having surgery due to a major infection, and there's a chance she may have to have her finger amputated. The image of Maria Luisa Gerardo's finger is extremely graphic — a wound that goes all the way down to the bone. "I cover my face when they come in here and take (the bandage) off because I don't wanna see it," said Gerardo. "I don't. I'm scared."Gerardo made her regular visit to TJ Nails, a place she's been going to for more than a decade, where they call her "Mama." But two weeks ago she claims she received a small cut on her finger. "A little open wound, here on the side of my finger," said Gerardo.A day later, her finger started swelling. Gerardo went to Urgent Care, where they put her on antibiotics. She went back to the nail salon, and she says they offered her 0."He told me, 'It's nothing. Just clean your hand and buy your medicine, and it will come off," said Gerardo. But it only got worse, and Gerardo had to go into surgery."Pretty excruciating to see," said Gerardo's son Victor. "I don't like to see my mom in pain."Victor was by his mom's side during the surgery and days following. "He cleaned as much as he could, to try and salvage the finger," said Victor. "He told me, he kept cutting and cutting the tissue around her finger until it bled, because that was good skin."Gerardo says a man named Bill was the technician who cut her nails that day. Employees at TJ Nails claim he no longer works at the salon and recently moved out of state.Bill said in a phone interview that he never cut Gerardo's nails and he knew her very well and did nothing wrong. Meantime, Gerardo is looking for answers and waiting to see if she will be able to keep her finger. "This is the only thing I ever liked doing to myself, my nails," said Gerardo. "But now, with this that happened to my hand, I never want to do this in my life."The family reported TJ Nails to the state. They are planning on working with a lawyer to take legal action against the salon.  2212
