The family of a Rochester, New York man killed during an encounter with police earlier this year, says officers' use of force led to his death as he suffered a mental health crisis.Following the release of the arrest video by Prude's family on Wednesday, protesters called for the city council to pass legislation that would forbid police officers from responding to mental health crises.On March 23, police encountered Daniel Prude in a Rochester street, naked, bleeding and unarmed. According to ABC News, he had been brought to the hospital earlier that evening after experiencing suicidal thoughts and had been subsequently released.Prude initially complied, and officers placed him in handcuffs.With the coronavirus pandemic in its infancy, officers then chose to place a spit hood over Prude's head. The hood appears to agitate Prude, and he asked officers to remove it.Moments later, Prude attempted to stand up, and officers wrestled him back to the ground.Video shows officers pressing Prude's face into the pavement for two minutes.It was then that police realized that Prude had stopped responding. Officers administered CPR, and he was rushed to the hospital.On March 30, Prude died when he was taken off life support."I tell this particular officer that comes to my door (prior to the incident), don't you kill my damn brother," Prude's brother Joe said on Wednesday. "Not even 15 minutes later, he comes back and tells me my brother is dead. You put a bag over his head — what did you put a bag over his head for?"An autopsy from the Monroe County Medical Examiner found that Prude died from complications of asphyxia from physical restraint. He also may have had PCP in his system.The Rochester Police Chief said he ordered criminal and internal investigations following the incident. The case was sent to the New York Attorney General's office, as required by state law when investigating in-custody deaths.None of the officers involved in the incident have been suspended. Protesters in Rochester Wednesday night called for the removal of the officers from the department."A naked and defenseless man lynched and we need to think about that in this moment," activist Stanley Martin said. The coronavirus pandemic is now starting to cause sporting events in 2021 to become canceled.On Thursday, the NHL announced that it has canceled the 2021 Winter Classic and NHL All-Star Game.The Winter Classic has become the NHL’s signature outdoor event for the last decade, generally played outdoors on New Year’s Day. The game was originally slated to be played between Minnesota and St. Louis in Target Field.The NHL All-Star Game, originally scheduled for Jan. 31, 2020, has been canceled. The NHL planned on playing the game in Sunrise, Florida, home of the Florida Panthers.The NHL said it intends on playing a Winter Classic in Minnesota and an NHL All-Star Game in Florida in the near future.“Fan participation, both in arenas and stadiums as well as in the ancillary venues and events that we stage around the Winter Classic and All-Star Weekend, is integral to the success of our signature events,” said NHL Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Content Officer Steve Mayer. “Because of the uncertainty as to when we will be able to welcome our fans back to our games, we felt that the prudent decision at this time was to postpone these celebrations until 2022 when our fans should be able to enjoy and celebrate these tentpole events in-person, as they were always intended. The Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency directive for inspections of certain Boeing 737 planes due to recent reports of engine shutdowns.The FAA issued an emergency airworthiness directive on Thursday for certain Boeing 737s that have been in storage for more than a week.According to the directive, a certain engine valve may be responsible for four recent reports of engine shutdowns. Agency officials suspect that the valve may become corroded during storage, causing it to remain stuck in the open position.The directive requires that any Boeing 737-300, -400, -500, -600, -700, -700C,-800, -900, and -900ER that have been in storage for a week or longer undergo an inspection before being put back into use. The directive also requires inspections for any of those Boeing models that have completed "less than 10 flight cycles" at the time of the directive after coming out of storage.The inspection order was released the same day that CNBC reported that Boeing told lenders to expect fewer deliveries of its 737 Max planes that initially expected. The Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas has been postponed yet again and is joining a growing list of companies canceling or pushing back in-person events amid the pandemic.EDC Las Vegas 2020 was originally scheduled to take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in May of this year. The death toll from the ongoing Camp Fire near Paradise, California continues to grow as authorities found another eight bodies, increasing the number of confirmed dead to 58. The Camp Fire is the largest single wildfire in California history, now doubling the death toll of second-deadliest fire in California history. The number of confirmed destroyed structures also has increased to more than 10,000. The death toll could continue to rise as the Butte County Sheriff's Office said that nearly 100 people remain missing. Most of the missing are elderly residents of Paradise.  One bit of good news is that officials are starting to get the fire under containment. The Camp Fire scorched 138,000 acres and is now 35 percent contained. Meanwhile, authorities continue to battle a massive blaze in Southern California.
