BEAUMONT, Calif. (KGTV) -- San Diego County Fire-Rescue announced Saturday that it sent firefighters from the department to help battle the Apple Fire burning in Riverside County.According to the agency, crews left early Saturday morning to join the fight against the blaze.Strike team deployments usually last 14 days, but can be reduced or last longer, depending on the incident, the department said.“California has a very strong mutual aid system and it kicks into gear for wildfires to support fire agencies in our state and others,” the agency added.The North County Fire Protection District said later in the day it sent two units to battle the blaze. The Poway Firefighters Association also said it sent crews to assist with the Apple Fire. As of Sunday morning, the fire had scorched 15,000 acres and was 0% contained, according to KABC. One home has so far been destroyed with another 2,500 threatened. The Apple Fire began as two separate blazes in Cherry Valley Friday evening. Body cam footage from Goodlettsville, Tennessee police shows officers interacting with a drunk Steven Rowe two hours before he crashed his car head-on into a car full of teenagers.Footage recorded at 1:30 a.m. on Jully 28, shows several officers confront Rowe outside Silverado's, a bar in Goodlettsville. Officers comment on how intoxicated Rowe appears to be. He's slow to respond to questions and seems confused about where he parked his car and has lost his keys.Rowe thinks somebody has stolen his car, but police tell him he's too drunk to make a report."You've got to have a place to go before we arrest you for a PI (public intoxication)," one officer said.Rowe, 28, died at the scene of a crash on Highway 40 at the southeastern edge of Greenbrier before 4:00 a.m. on July 28. He drifted over into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a Honda Element head on.Inside that car were four young people, all 18 or 19 years old. Erica Tackett, Chase Hampton and Perry and Marlie Ford were all in that car. All sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital, Marlie Ford by helicopter.  1130

BALTIMORE, Marlyland — A mother living without her teenage son who was shot and killed last year got to meet the girl whose life he saved with his heart.    Xavier Young was an organ donor.Although lost to gun violence, his gift saved more than one life — it saved an entire family."I think he really wanted me to see that he’s OK and his heart is also still going," said Jennifer Young.Young is Xavier's mother. He was 14 years old when he was shot and killed in Laurel, Maryland last year."We buried him a year ago back on (November 6) so this week has been really tough," Young said.But in darkness, there is a little light as Young met the girl who now holds her son's heart."My son would’ve loved to meet her in life and would’ve heard about her all the time so it’s bittersweet to me," said Young.For Gwendolyn Ihm's family, it was an emotional and humbling meeting."As we celebrate Gwendolyn’s heart transplant, we also have to remember that at that same time there’s another family that are remembering another year of not having their loved one with them," said Brian Ihm, whose daughter now has Young's heart.Ihm was diagnosed with leukemia before she was just 2 months old and the radiation wreaked havoc on her heart."Without Xavier’s heart Gwendolyn would not be at school, she would not be running around, she would not be able to participate like all the kids," Ihm said.Young heard her son's heart beating inside of Gwen."It’s not really him. It’s a piece, and that’s amazing too," said Young.The families have spoken but never met. "I just feel like they remind me so much of him. It’s like he went back to family is what I want to say," Young told WMAR.Xavier was able to donate seven organs and save five lives after his death last November."Without the help of God, maybe Jennifer (Young) wouldn't have made the decision that she made," said Ihm.The hope is for Gwen to be a normal 13-year-old."We just want her to have a couple of good years of health," Ihm said, "and Xavier’s gift has given us that." 2126

BOULDER, Colo. – Police have released a sketch of a woman they believe assaulted a 12-year-old boy who was holding a Trump sign while riding his bicycle earlier this week.The boy, who spoke with Denver7 on Wednesday, says he was riding his bicycle Monday afternoon when a woman o a moped driving south on Folsom Street spotted him, made a U-turn, drove up to him, and said, “you want something to look at?”The boy said the woman then used one of her fists to strike him in the back of the head and arms several times, and also caused a scratch on the boy’s left arm.A police report from Boulder police states the woman then reportedly tried to take the Trump sign from the boy’s hands, who was using it to defend himself against the attack before she took off.The boy described the woman as white, in her late 20’s to mid-’30s with blondish brown hair past her shoulders.
