XI'AN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has urged the country's college students to find grassroots jobs in less developed regions as the economic downturn increases pressures in employment market.     Visiting Xi'an, capital of central Shaanxi Province, from Friday to Sunday, Wen said employment was one of the government's priorities for the sake of the country's economy and for the future of individuals.     "College students, laid-off workers and migrant workers waiting for jobs are my biggest concern," Wen told job hunters at an employment center.     He encouraged graduates from universities and colleges to find work in grassroots regions, and called on employers to create more jobs.     Since the second half of last year, the government has implemented a series of policies to create jobs. The State Council, or Cabinet, also decided to give living allowances to graduates who went to the central and western regions for internships.     Everyone should have a resolute belief that they should try their best no matter what their job was, Wen told students at Xi'an Jiaotong University. ZAGREB, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in the Croatian capital of Zagreb Friday for a state visit to strengthen the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two nations.     This is the first visit to Croatia by a Chinese head of state since the two countries established diplomatic ties 17 years ago.     In Zagreb, President Hu is expected to meet Croatian leaders to discuss how to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange views on major regional and global issues of common concern.     The two countries are expected to sign a host of cooperation deals involving various sectors during the visit.     "I believe that President Hu's visit to Croatia will have great impact on consolidating traditional friendship between China and Croatia and deepening all-round and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries," said Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui last week. MOSCOW, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that he is looking forward to meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao next month during the Chinese leader's trip to Russia.     Medvedev, who met with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo on Friday, said he and Hu will exchange views on major international and regional issues of common concern during their June meeting. BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- China Tuesday called for new initiatives to boost the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership.     The call was made during a meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and former French President Jacques Chirac, who is in Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs. ZHENGZHOU, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Jia Qinglin urged making all-out efforts to ensure economic growth, care for the lives of people and ensure stability during a research trip.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the call during a visit to central Henan Province from April 17 to 23, where he visited enterprises, urban and rural communities, research agencies and colleges.     There had been positive changes in China's economic development as the central government's macroeconomic policies started to pay off, Jia said.
