(CNN) -- A man who was mistakenly circumcised in a hospital mix-up has been awarded compensation, the hospital said.Terry Brazier, aged 70, went into Leicester Royal Infirmary for a bladder procedure known as a cystoscopy but was mistaken for another patient by hospital staff and circumcised.The hospital apologized and carried out an investigation, before confirming on Monday it had awarded Brazier a ￡20,000 (,300) payout.Brazier told the British newspaper the Daily Star that he was so distracted talking to hospital staff that he didn't notice he was getting the incorrect procedure until it was too late."They didn't know what to say when they found out they'd done it, they said they can't send me back to the ward and they needed to talk to me," he told the newspaper.Brazier added that finding out he had been circumcised was "a real surprise."Andrew Furlong, medical director at University Hospitals of Leicester, said in a statement: "We remain deeply and genuinely sorry that this mistake occurred, and I would like to take this opportunity to once again apologise to Mr Brazier.""We take events like this very seriously and carried out a thorough investigation at the time to ensure that we learnt from this incident and do all we can to avoid it happening again. (CNN) -- At least four people were shot dead and two others were wounded Thursday in Los Angeles before the gunman was captured, authorities said.Gerry Dean Zaragoza, 26, killed his father and brother at their home, fatally wounded a woman he knew at a gas station and shot a man on a bus who died, police said.There is no obvious motive for any of the killings, said Capt. William Hayes of the Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department."We're evaluating it, we're interviewing witnesses but we can't come up with a specific answer," he told reporters.Hayes said the shootings began at about 1:20 a.m. in Canoga Park when Zaragoza shot his parents and brother. Zaragoza's father and brother were killed and his mother injured, Officer Greg Kraft said.About an hour later, Zaragoza went to a gas station in North Hollywood, where he shot a woman and a man who were working there, Hayes said.Hayes said Zaragoza knew the woman previously. She died at a hospital.  Las Vegas is getting set to host the first major event since the 1 October shooting.The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon has 40,000 runners registered for Sunday's races.As one of the rare events that shuts down the Las Vegas Strip, security concerns are heightened this year in light of the recent tragedy."Up until the shooting I honestly didn't even think about security as an issue and as soon as that happened, I was a little nervous," said Tom Sullivan, who will be running his first marathon.Captain Andy Walsh with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is in charge of security this year.He says marathon safety really changed after the Boston Marathon bombing in 2014, and 1 October changed it again."We've added some counter-sniper surveillance posts along the route," Walsh said. "We're going to have coverage from our helicopter unit."He added there will be 350 officers on the ground plus several large vehicles like dump trucks and buses to act as makeshift barriers.Some runners say crossing the finish line has become even more imperative now than ever."Just because this may be harder or scarier, it's not going to stop me," Sullivan said.Esther Reincke is dedicating her run to Cameron Robinson, who died in October's shooting.Robinson was her co-worker and running buddy."I can run now and Cameron can't," Reincke said. Saybie was delivered in December of 2018 at 23 weeks and three days at San Diego’s Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns. According to the hospital, Saybie’s mother gave birth after experiencing severe pregnancy complications. When she was born, Saybie weighed 8.6 ounces, about as much as a large apple, according to the hospital. After her birth, the hospital’s life support team rushed to stabilize her before she was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. Saybie was sent home in mid-May at a healthy 5 pounds. "No one expects their baby to be born with complications," said Trisha Khaleghi, senior vice president and chief executive officer at Sharp Mary Birch.
