SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman involved in a Lamborghini crash this week has died, the San Diego Medical Examiner (ME) confirmed Wednesday.Stephanie Rivera, 26, was ejected from the crash on North Harbor Drive and Broadway just after 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 after the driver, identified as 33-year-old Michael Llamas, lost control of the exotic vehicle at a high rate of speed, police said earlier this week.RELATED COVERAGE: 432
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting an elderly woman at a Central Coast beach parking lot in San Luis Obispo, law officials said.Morro Bay Police Officers responded to a disturbance call at around 1 p.m. at the Morro Rock parking lot on Coleman Drive, authorities said.Witnesses told officers that the suspect assaulted an elderly woman and knocked her to the ground. Numerous people witnessed the attack and went to help the victim, according to police.Officials said the woman was treated by first responders for moderate injuries.In a press release, officials said Brian Robert Sprinkle, 39, of La Jolla, "was participating in a surf competition when he exited the water and assaulted the woman without provocation."Sprinkle was booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail on felony charges of elder abuse and battery, according to Morro Bay police.Officers also found a firearm with Sprinkle's property and seized it.It is believed the suspect was under the influence of marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs, police said in a statement.Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Morro Bay Police Department (805) 772-6225.While police say Sprinkle was taking part in the Big, Bad and Ugly surf competition, surf contest organizers tell KSBY News he was not registered with the contest and is not affiliated with any of the surf clubs that participated.ABC 10News affiliate KSBY News contributed to this report. 1497
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Amid ongoing dockless scooter injuries, Mayor Kevin Faulconer Thursday proposed new rules for the devices.The new rules would force companies that provide the dockless scooters to educate riders, provide data to the city, enforce speed limits and purchase permits.Riders would also be required to sign away any of the city’s legal liability should something happen.Speed limits would need to be enforced by the companies using “geofencing technology,” Faulconer said. Some of the most popular areas for the scooters, including the Pacific and Mission Beach boardwalks, would be areas required to have speed limits. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego-based U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued a man having a heart attack on board a tanker off Point Loma Tuesday morning.The Chembulk New York, a 525-foot tanker vessel, radioed the Coast Guard for help Monday at 4:15 p.m. At the time, the ship was 370 miles southwest of San Diego, Coast Guard officials reported.A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter left San Diego at 10:45 p.m. to rendezvous with the ship, which changed course to facilitate the medical evacuation.At 1:30 a.m., the helicopter crew arrived and hoisted the man on board. The crew flew him to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.The man was reported to be in stable condition, according to the Coast Guard. 708
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Uber driver helped a Lyft driver after a crash on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley Monday.The Uber driver told 10News he was exiting eastbound I-8 at Mission Gorge Rd. at 1:45 a.m. when he saw an SUV on its side, blocking the road.The man turned on his hazard lights and used his Uber car to block the road while he ran to help, he said.The Lyft driver was trapped and screaming for help, according to the man.The Uber driver said he kicked the windshield until he formed a hole the Lyft driver could climb through.Paramedics took the Lyft driver to the hospital with cuts and bruises.CHP officers are investigating the cause of the crash.The Lyft driver was not arrested but told the CHP his 'mind wasn't working', according to Officer Jim Bettencourt. 806
