SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police released video Thursday of a random assault outside a North Park 7-Eleven.The assault happened February 15 about 9 p.m. at the store on 3019 Meade Ave., at 30th St., police said.The woman was standing outside the store in front of the Redbox video rental machine when the man walked up behind her.Surveillance video shows the man push the woman. She fell to the ground and was injured. There's no word on her condition.The attack appears to be random.Anyone with information about the man is asked to call San Diego Police. 567

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's museums received a glimmer of hope following the reveal of California's new guidance.That's because San Diego County was placed in the second tier, "substantial." Now, several businesses will have to opportunity to reopen, as they did in June, with modifications indoors.The San Diego Air and Space Museum announced it plans to reopen on Monday. When the museum reopened in June, staff implemented safety policies including capacity limits, social distancing, facemasks for guests and employees, hand sanitizer stations, and continuous cleaning. Museum staff also were required to have their temperatures screened daily before entering.RELATED: Several San Diego County businesses to reopen indoors with limits under new guidanceThis time around, museums will have to limit indoor activities to 25% capacity in addition to modifications, according to the state's guidance for tier two.The museum is one of a handful of Balboa Park attractions that have been able to welcome guests back. The Nat said during its closure, it will also be seeking new sources of grant and gift funding.Museums across San Diego have been forced to stay closed for much of the summer, losing out on revenue that depends on guest tickets and merchandise in many instances."I think as time goes on we need to look at what fund-raising is possible, I think we need to look with those organizations that rely on revenue through the gate," Comiskey said.Comiskey added that conversations are planned on how to supplement lost income for many Balboa Park organizations. 2433

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego State University reported at least 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The total of positive cases among students since the first day of school is now up to 20. The university says the most of the students that tested positive live off campus. Only three of the students were living on campus. Two of the students are in isolation on campus. The third student is isolating somewhere else. In a letter sent out to staff and students, school officials say the majority of the students didn't interact with any SDSU employees or go to any of the shared campus spaces. One student did briefly visit the school bookstore. San Diego State started the school year on Aug. 24, mostly with online classes. There are 2,600 students living on campus. County officials confirm they have started outbreak investigations and are working closely with the school. Over the weekend, SDSU announced they had hired security to patrol the campus from Thursday to Sunday, after hours, to monitor for any COVID-19 violations on campus. Students told ABC 10News they think the school is doing the best they can in response to COVID-19. They say they are more concerned about things in housing off campus. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego will continue using part of the second floor of Golden Hall as a temporary bridge shelter, and add a fourth location on the other side of downtown.The City Council voted Tuesday to fund its three current shelters for the next year, and seek an operator for a new one at 17th and Imperial. A recent point in time count found more than 5,000 homeless people in the city - about half of whom are unsheltered. The temporary bridge shelters in total have about 665 beds. The shelters provide services to help residents find work and ultimately transition to permanent housing. The San Diego Housing Commission reports that since the shelters opened around December 2017, about 540 previously homeless people - or 39 percent - have transitioned to permanent or other long-term housing after a month-long stay. That shows improvement from a March 2018 update, when that number was about 14 percent. "We're making headway big time," said Bob McElroy, who heads Alpha Project - which operates a downtown shelter. "Some of our folks have been out here 20-plus years, and you're not going to get your proverbial you-know-what together in three months."McElroy said longer-term financial commitments have helped attract more qualified staffing, and noted that Alpha Project recently opened a 52-unit complex that brought more housing opportunities.
