NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - An election worker in New Haven, Connecticut, has tested positive for the coronavirus, leading to a dozen other workers being quarantined. Maritza Bond, the city's public health director, says the infected employee has not been to work since last week after experiencing possible coronavirus symptoms and that offices in City Hall have been disinfected. The 12 people placed in quarantine were temporary employees who spent Tuesday in the city clerk's office counting absentee ballots. City-Town Clerk Michael Smart has asked the secretary of the state's office for support to ensure elections operations are completed Wednesday. 661
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Mary Trump called on her uncle, President Donald Trump, to resign during her first television interview since the release of her tell-all book. While speaking with ABC News, she also discussed visiting President Trump in the White House in 2017, a few months after the inauguration. In one clip from the interview, Mary Trump essentially says that her uncle is unfit for office and dangerous."And I just remember thinking, 'he seems tired. He seems like this is not what he signed up for, if he even knows what he signed up for.' And I thought his response was actually more enlightening than my statement. And he said, 'they won't get me.' And so far, looks like he's right," she said. When George Stephanopoulos asked Mary Trump what she would say to her uncle if she was in the Oval Office today, she said, “resign.” She thinks the president is incapable of leading the country and said it’s dangerous to allow him to do so.President Trump's brother, Robert, took Mary Trump and her publisher to court to try to block the book's release and block Mary Trump from talking about it. However, on Monday, the New York State Supreme Court lifted a temporary restraining order, allowing the author to promote her book.Mary Trump is the daughter of Fred Trump Jr., who died after a long bout with alcoholism. During the interview, she claimed her father was “punished for being kind, for being generous… for having interests outside what my grandfather thought was acceptable.”Mary Trump’s ABC interview reflects much of what’s detailed in her book, "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man." In it, she writes a scathing depiction of her uncle, drawing on her own memories, conversations with relatives, and pertinent documents. 1787

NEW YORK CITY -- Diners at a restaurant in New York City are requesting bubbles. But not the kind of bubbles to float away on, or to drink.Cafe du Soleil has created bubble seating for its customers. The Alvantor bubbles are plastic and can zip open or closed on two sides. There is plenty of room for a table of four inside."People love it. It's very supple. It's very cozy," owner Alain Chevreax said.He started preparing for cold weather early."I ordered the first bubble in July to try out because I was already thinking about the fall weather," Chevreax said. The restaurant now has 16 bubble tables.Cafe du Soleil is one of thousands of New York City restaurants struggling to stay afloat due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Chevreaux said he hopes the bubbles keep diners warm and dry as the temperature drops. He estimated the bubbles will be useful until the temperature goes below 45 degrees."Now people are aware of the bubble and when they make a reservation they say, 'Can we have a bubble?' I say, 'Of course you can have a bubble,'" Chevreaux said.In addition to comfort, customers Alfred and Barbara MacAdam said they like that they're protected from other people's germs."It also helps the restaurant bring more people in because you are enclosed and therefore protected," Alfred MacAdam said. While Cafe du Soleil has a plan to supplement indoor dining, which begins in New York on Sept. 30 at 25% capacity, many city restaurants do not.Despite the start of the fall season on Tuesday, Andrew Rigie, of the New York City Hospitality Alliance, said the city still has not given restaurants guidance on heat lamps."We have really been pushing the city, saying these small business owners need an opportunity to plan,” Rigie said. “Are you going to allow propane, which they can't currently use? Can they use electric?"Rigie said he hopes the state will eventually allow New York City restaurants to increase indoor dining to 50% capacity. But until then, restaurants are doing the best they can. This story originally reported by Allison Kaden on PIX11.com. 2072
