BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Most parts of China saw limited rainfall through Saturday as people could get view of a bright full moon in clear meteorological conditions at the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival.     Only the southwestern and part of the northwestern regions saw some rainfalls, but starting Sunday, weather in those regions will also clear up for the locals to get view of the full moon, according to China Meteorological Administration.     In the coming three days, parts of the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region expect a weak rainfall with strong wind. Temperature will drop 4-8 degrees Celsius after the cold front moves over the region.     Meanwhile, parts of the northeastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Heilongjiang Province will also see some weak rainfalls in the next three days.     The Administration also warns of twin typhoons Parma and Melor churning in the Pacific Ocean.     Typhoon Parma which now is bearing down on the Philippines expects to bring gales and major rainfalls along China's southeastern regions in its course during the coming three days.

BRUSSELS, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping urged closer cooperation between China and Belgium during a speech Friday at the China-Belgium Economic and Trade Forum.     Xi said the development of cooperation between China and Belgium has brought tangible benefits to the two countries.Despite the impact of the global financial crisis, bilateral trade volume rose 14.4 percent to 20.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, 1,000 times as much 38 years ago when diplomatic relations were established, he said.     The vice president advanced a three-point proposal to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. Those issues, he said, include the global financial crisis, world economic development, climate change, food and energy security, the Doha round of trade talks, and international financial structure reforms.     "I believe that the perspective of the mutual benefit cooperation between China and the EU has a better future with the joint efforts of the two sides," Xi said.     Xi also reviewed the great achievements China has made in the 60 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.     Xi stressed that there still is a long way to go for China to achieve a more prosperous society.     As a peace-loving country, Xi said, China will always continue efforts to cooperate with world countries based on the five principles of peaceful coexistence. UNITED NATIONS, July 29 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said here on Wednesday that he was pleased with what China is doing to contain climate change and what the Asian country will do in negotiations that will lead to an agreement at the Copenhagen summit on climate change in December.     Ban told his monthly press conference that "I was pleased that (Chinese) President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao assured me that China wants to seal a deal in Copenhagen in December and that China will play an active and constructive role in the negotiations to achieve this end."     During his meeting with the Chinese leaders, "we also agreed on the importance of global leaders showing the way and discussed in detail the Climate Change Summit in New York on Sept. 22," Ban said.     "I wanted to highlight the special responsibility of countries like China to lead the global fight against climate change, as well as highlight all that China is doing," he said. "Come September, we will be entering a crucial stage on climate change."     "Climate change was the major focus of my trip to Asia," he said.     "In particular, I helped to launch an ambitious program to promote energy saving lighting which could reduce China's energy consumption by 8 percent," he said. "This is a major step into the21st century."     The overall goal for the Copenhagen Summit, slated for Dec. 7-18, is to establish an ambitious global climate agreement for the period 2012.     In order to have "a robust agreement on adaptation in Copenhagen," he said, "I continue to press for achieving a fair, effective and scientifically ambitious deal in Copenhagen that can benefit all nations."     "That's why I am convening the September climate change summit," Ban said. "We expect more than 100 heads of state and governments -- the largest gathering of leaders on climate change ever."     "Two years ago, only a few leaders could speak to these issues," he said. "Today, leaders are walking the road to Copenhagen together."     "But, we have less than five months to seal a deal," he said. "To keep up the momentum, I will travel to arctic polar ice rim later next month to get a first-hand look at conditions there -- in particular the melting sea ice."     "I will then go on to the World Climate Conference in Geneva organized by the World Meteorological Organization," he said.

KABUL, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- A China-bound Afghan plane with Kam Airlines landed on the airport of Kandahar city in southern Afghanistan Sunday night, said sources of Kabul International Airport.     An official in Kabul International Airport who was reluctant to disclose his name said the plane scheduled from Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, to Urumqi of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has already landed on Kandahar airport.     "The plane would return to Kabul after two hours," he added.
