A family from Connecticut got quite the surprise when their 10-year-old son was called for jury duty.Fifth grade student Nick Dondero received the letter in the mail summoning him to show up.While the family found it a bit comical, they’re wondering how it even happened in the first place.Nick’s mom laughed about it and tucked it away.“Two, three weeks later, I’m going through to pay bills and I’m like ‘oh my gosh, I never sent this back,” she said. Each year, more than 550,000 people in Connecticut are selected for jury duty. The Connecticut Judicial Branch gets a list of names from four places: The Dept. of Motor Vehicles, the Dept. of Labor, Registrar of Voters, and the Dept. of Revenue Services. The list of names the Judicial Branch gets from Revenue Services does not include the date of birth. That is where Nick’s name came from and why he was summoned.“I was wondering what if I don’t go, I wanted to know if that was going to be a problem,” Nick said.It wasn’t a problem. The Judicial Branch said the Dondero family did the right thing. They checked a box on the summons letter saying he was underage and sent it back. Now, 10-year-old Nick is in the clear and does not have to report for jury duty. 1225

A change is coming to some people’s life and health insurance policies that will make them more expensive. Prudential recently announced it will consider e-cigarette users the same as traditional smokers. Smokers pay on average about 50% more per year for life insurance. Depending on the policy, that’s between 0 and 0 more. Some other companies were already charging vapers more. The president of Consumer Watchdog, Jamie Court, says he doesn’t necessarily disagree with the practice. “Well you know I’m no fan of the insurance industry but I think they're probably right in this circumstance and you know vaping is a relatively unknown quantity we don’t have any longitudinal studies to show what happens in 10-20-30-40 years to the lungs of people who vape,” said Court. “But there has been some evidence that people have significant scarring.”Court says it’s a little more of a gray area when it comes to health insurance. Right now, plans under the Affordable Care Act don’t charge e-cigarette and tobacco users the same. Some states don’t allow smokers to be charged more. At the same time, the Insurance Information Institute reports some companies have vaping in the non-smoking category because there isn’t enough data yet on the health effects. But with recent injuries and deaths from vaping, some companies now consider it a higher risk factor. 1375

Some of the most iconic scenes from our favorite films and shows take place in the air. But chances are they were filmed on the ground in a warehouse near San Fernando, California. In fact, the iconic movie Airplane was filmed there.Any kind of scene related to air travel from security to the interiors can be done at Air Hollywood. Air Hollywood is the brain child of self-proclaimed aviation geek Talaat Captan, a former movie producer who came up with the idea after facing so many challenges anytime he wanted to do a plane scene. “You name it. Trying to get in an airport, trying to get a plane, it was really a challenge,” he says. “Then, I realized there’s an opportunity here.”He keeps Air Hollywood’s four aircraft sets in as close to working order as possible, from cockpit electrics to the overhead bins. Captan is so into it, he's even built a replica 1970’s Pan Am. Air Hollywood seems to have thought of everything. “The entire platform here on the plane is built on airbags on hydraulics,” Captan describes. “We can lift it up and shake it a lot. Literally, if I close the windows and put the sound effect on and then shake the plane, you definitely think you’re on an airplane.”Learn more about Air Hollywood 1241
