POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - Poway residents gathered Monday night to rally against an anti-Semitic hate crime during Hanukkah. Someone painted a swastika on the side of a Jewish family’s home and poured some type of chemical on their car Sunday night. Shawn Seibert lives in the house with his mother. He says he heard noises around 11:20 p.m. and went outside, only to see two people away. That’s when he noticed the swastika on the side of their house and the damage to his car. Sunday night was the start of Hanukkah.“When you see it, it just shakes you down to your core,” Seibert said. “How can someone do something like that to someone they don’t know?” The community came together Monday to show their support for the Seiberts. Several dozen people gathered at the corner of Poway and Community Roads with signs preaching against hate, as drivers honked their horns in support of the rally. The Seiberts were able to remove the swastika Monday morning. 963

(AP) — Oregon State Police will return to Portland to help local authorities after the fatal shooting of a man following clashes between President Donald Trump supporters and counter-protesters that led to an argument between the president and the city’s mayor over who was to blame for the violence. On Saturday evening a caravan of about 600 vehicles packed with Trump supporters drove through the liberal city and was met with counterprotesters. Skirmishes broke out and, about 15 minutes after the caravan left the city, a supporter of the right-wing group Patriot Prayer was fatally shot. The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. Video from the city shows sporadic fighting between the groups, with Trump supporters firing paintball pellets at opponents and using bear spray as counterprotesters threw things at the Trump caravan.The man killed was a member of Patriot Prayer, a right-wing group whose members have frequently clashed with protesters in Portland in the past, its founder, Joey Gibson, said Sunday. He identified the victim as Aaron “Jay” Danielson and called him a “good friend,” but provided no details. Danielson apparently also went by the name Jay Bishop, according to Patriot Prayer’s Facebook page.The Washington state-based group doesn't have a significant national footprint but is well known in the Pacific Northwest. Gibson, a political activist and one-time Senate candidate, founded it in 2016 and its supporters have held many rallies in Portland since the election of President Donald Trump. In response to the deadly incident this weekend, President Trump unleashed a flurry of tweets and retweets. Poway, Calif., (KGTV)-- The City of Poway's water boil advisory was officially lifted on Friday, but the inconvenience continues for many residents. Tenants of two dozens units at the La Privada Apartments are being evicted suddenly after management discovered rain damage. When it rains, it pours, especially for Poway resident, Allan Moore. "We have a week left," Moore said. "We have to be out by the 15th."Right in the middle of last week's city-wide water boil advisory, he and tenants in 23 other units at the La Privada Apartments were surprised with an eviction notice. It said they must leave the premises and turn in their keys by December 15, 2019. Moore said management explained that the same set of storms that destroyed the city's water system caused the water damage to the units. According to the notice, Moore will get his security deposit, December, and part of November's, rent paid back."I'm very clueless about it right now," Moore said. "And I haven't had hardly any communication."According to law experts, people in Moore's situation do have rights. Laws state that the landlord or property manager must give "reasonable" time for tenants to move out. The specifics of that time frame are in the provisions of the leasing agreement. In Moore's case, the property manager or tenant has the right to terminate a leasing contract if repairs are expected to take longer than 60 days. In this case, management company, Capital Growth Properties, states the repairs could take up to six months. How much assistance the landlord gives, such as finding new or temporary housing, is up to the property manager. Experts told 10News, in some cases, if the management companies own other properties, they may relocate tenants into unaffected, open units. However, Moore says he has not heard of this option from Capital Growth Properties. The rest, such as additional living expenses and food during the inconvenience, is up to their renter's insurance. In the meantime, Moore's house is a mess. "Christmas has kind of been put on hold," Moore sighed. A nutcracker and one sad set of lights are the only signs of the holidays in the usually festive home. "We're just going to have to take it down before Christmas, so we're like, 'let's just stop decorating,'" Moore said. Moore just hopes they find a place soon before they get kicked out. President Donald Trump said Thursday he is opposed to changing the structure for the remaining two presidential debates. On Wednesday, the Commission on Presidential Debates said it was considering changes following Tuesday’s debate which contained frequent interruptions. “The Commission on Presidential Debates sponsors televised debates for the benefit of the American electorate,” the commission said on Wednesday. “Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly.
