Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan told protesters occupying several city blocks they are in no danger of being invaded by the federal government despite comments from President Donald Trump saying he is ready to “take back” the city.The protesters, who have seized control of Seattle’s East Precinct police station, are pushing the city to make significant reforms to policing. Best said she was fully aware that other police stations were destroyed by looters and rioters, but said she allowed for fences around the station to come down to build trust with the protesters.But the protests, Best said, have been responsible for significantly slowing police response to parts of Seattle's East Precinct. SEATTLE — Police say one person has been wounded in the second shooting in Seattle's protest zone in less than 48 hours. The shooting happened late Sunday night in the area near Seattle's downtown known as CHOP, for “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest.” Police tweeted that one person was at a hospital with a gunshot wound. A hospital spokesperson says that the person was in serious condition. A pre-dawn shooting Saturday had left a 19-year-old man dead and another person critically injured. No arrests in that shooting had been made as of Sunday. Further details weren't immediately available.Protesters have occupied an area in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood for two weeks. Demonstrators moved in when police removed blockades surrounding a police precinct in the area, and eventually abandoned the building when protesters blocked officers from entering. 870

San Francisco police say they will stop releasing the mug shots of people who have been arrested unless they pose a threat to the public. Police Chief Bill Scott says the new policy starting Wednesday is aimed at stopping the spread of negative stereotypes of minorities. Jack Glaser, a public policy professor at the University of California Berkeley who researches racial stereotyping, says data shows Black people who are arrested are more likely to have their cases dismissed by prosecutors. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) -- Firefighters responded to a brush fire in San Marcos Sunday afternoon. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the fire broke out on the 500 block of Sarver Lane around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.CalFire said that the forward progress of the fire has stopped and that two acres have burned.The only reported damage was to a small, abandoned outbuilding, the Sheriff's Department said.All roads are open near the scene of the fire. Nobody was evacuated during the fire.Firefighters remain on the scene. 554
