Hess and Koch face up to 20 years in prison for each of the six counts of mail fraud and up to five years in prison for each of the three hazardous materials counts.Hess and Koch owned and operated the Sunset Mesa Funeral Home in Montrose, on Colorado's Western Slope. In dozens of alleged instances from 2010-2018, Hess and Koch sold body parts and bodies to third parties without informing families of the decedent, an indictment said.When families did agree to donate the body parts, Hess and Koch sold more than the families allowed, prosecutors said. They shipped the body parts in the mail.U.S. Attorney Jason Dunn said Hess and Koch also kept a container in their office of various ashes, which they would give to families, even if the remains weren't their loved ones."I saw statements from family members who felt guilty for this," Dunn said, "and I want them to know this is not their fault. With the 20th anniversary of 9/11 coming up next year, the children of 9/11 first responders are coming together to share their stories for the first time in a new book due out next year."Even though we all experienced the day, we wall experienced it differently," said Susan Fiorentino, daughter of NYPD Retired Detective Pete Fiorentino, who responded to the World Trade Center attacks. "I was 10," said Susan, now 29 years old. It was Fiorentino's idea and she is leading the project to collect stories. "It’s important to raise awareness this is still a community that is suffering and we need to support them."So far, she has gathered 50 stories, including her own. She says the experience of 9/11 has influenced her and so many other 9/11 children to lead a life of service."I had a lot of people who said because my father because my mother was a first responder, that is what made me get into the first responder field," she said.She is still looking to collect more stories about how the children of 9/11 responders saw their childhood and now adulthood impacted by the day, documenting history through the eyes of some who have never told their stories before."Through connecting with others in my own experience in getting help with being a 9/11 first responder child has helped me so I hope it would help others as well," she said.The book will be published next summer. YUBA CITY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two crop-dusting planes have crashed in midair over a Northern California rice field, killing both pilots.The Sutter County Sheriff's Office says the single-engine Grumman Ag Cats were seeding the field at the time of Wednesday's collision.The pilots died at the scene north of Sacramento. They're identified as 63-year-old Brian VanDyke of Rio Oso and 59-year-old Burton Haughey of Wheatland.Authorities say Haughey was found inside his aircraft and VanDyke was found on the ground outside his wrecked plane.There's no immediate word on what caused the crash but the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate. 666
