BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday urged young Chinese and Africans to remember the traditional friendship and work together to promote Sino-African relations. He made the remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of the third China-Africa Youth Festival and a farewell ceremony for young Chinese volunteers departing for Africa. "Young people bear the hope of a nation and they also shoulder the future of a friendly China-Africa relationship," Wen said, expressing his hope young people would fulfill their historic responsibilities and create better conditions for friendship development. The Chinese government decided in 2006 to send 300 young volunteers to Africa to work in medical, agricultural, sports and educational field. QINGDAO, Shandong, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The fourth Sino-U.S. Energy Policy Dialogue opened Sunday in the coastal city of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province. China and the U.S. have huge potentials to cooperate in developing wind, solar and nuclear power. Both countries shall hold responsibilities to develop more technologies and equipment to tackle the challenges of climate changes, said David Sandalow, assistant secretary for Policy and International Affairs at the Energy Department. Zhang Yuqing, an official with China's National Energy Administration, said China is willing to learn advanced technologies of exploring gas. The consumption of gas has been growing by 20 percent every year since 2006. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the dialogue in 2004. The first forum was held in 2005 in the U.S.

BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said Monday it would extend anti-dumping duties on phthalic anhydride imported from the Republic of Korea, Japan and India for another five years after review investigation. Phthalic anhydride is an important industrial chemical mainly used in the mass production of plasticizers for plastics The imported phthalic anhydride would cause damage to Chinese industries should anti-dumping duties be lifted, said the ministry. The duties took effect Monday. On Jan. 7, China imposed anti-dumping measures on phthalic anhydride to offset negative impact on domestic producers.
