4S RANCH, CA (KGTV) - A rash of street racing on a straightaway in 4S Ranch has neighbors calling for the county to intervene.Surveillance images show the beginning of an illegal street race on Four Gee Road Tuesday morning that ended in a crash.No one was injured, but neighbors are growing weary of the close calls.“This most recent incident was probably the most severe case we’ve ever seen,” said Tony Cesario, who has dozens of the incidents on video.Cesario’s security camera on his back fence caught the moments before a BMW racing a pickup truck ran off the road.“This happens on a weekly basis,” said Michael Chard, another neighbor, “it’s teenagers.”Residents say they call the authorities when it happens, but the drivers are always gone before law enforcement arrives.“At some point, somebody’s going to get killed,” added Chard.The county has previously denied resident’s attempts to add speed bumps on the half-mile long straightway that runs from Mount Gee to Camino Del Norte.A hangup for their efforts is that Four Gee Road is used for fire access.The Rancho Santa Fe Fire District has the final approval for any road alterations as part of the the fire code.A spokesperson says the speed bumps can damage their equipment when they are responding to a fire.Lucy Chard was home when Tuesday’s crash occurred and she says it’s only a matter of time until happens again.“There was a line of kids right down there waiting for the school bus,” said Chard standing where the BMW crashed, “and if this happened a few hundred yards down the road it would have been a different situation.” 1610

A 3-year-old Mesa, Arizona boy was found crying next to his passed out father near a Mesa business.Mesa police report that on May 11, they responded to a business near Stapley Drive and Baseline Road for a man unconscious outside a business. An employee found 33-year-old David Rodriguez passed out with his 3-year-old son standing next to him, crying. Police woke up Rodriguez, but he reportedly kept dozing off as police were questioning him. He did not know where he was or how he got there. He also could not tell police how old his son was. Police located his car in the parking lot with the keys still in the ignition. They also allegedly found several open beer cans in the vehicle. Rodriguez has been charged with child abuse. 777

A baboon that was being transported escaped its cage Monday afternoon and ran loose in San Antonio International Airport, officials said.An airport spokesman said the baboon was cornered in the baggage handling area of Terminal B.American Airlines released a statement, saying the baboon was being taken to an animal sanctuary and refuge in the San Antonio area."We are working closely with the San Antonio Aviation Department and officials from the San Antonio Zoo. Officials from the zoo are now on-site to ensure his safety and well-being as he continues his journey to his new home at the primate sanctuary," the statement read.The baboon arrived on a flight from Chicago, according to American and CNN affiliate KSAT.No passengers or flights have been affected. (KGTV) -- Nearly 2,000 bicycles are being recalled due to a defect that could cause injury, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall is affecting Salsa Warbird and Vaya bicycles. The commission says the bicycle's fork legs can break, posing an injury hazard. All 2019 Salsa Warbird Carbon series bicycles and framesets, including Ultegra Di2, Force 1, 105, Apex 1, and Tiagra bicycles and all 2019 Salsa Vaya 105 bicycles and framesets are involved in the recall. The bikes were sold at specialty bicycle retailers nationwide from September 2018 through November 2018. The Salsa Warbird sold between ,000 and ,400 and the Vaya sold between ,000 and ,000. The commission says consumers should stop using the bicycles and return them to the retailer where they were purchased for free installation of the replacement fork. 866

A 6-year-old Maryland child was struck by a car while exiting a school bus Tuesday afternoon in Charles County, Maryland, WJLA-TV reported. The child, who has not been identified, reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries from the incident, authorities told WJLA. Tuesday's incident comes hours after a similar incident took place in Tennessee. Tuesday morning, a 41-year-old woman was charged with felony reckless endangerment and illegal passing of a school bus or failure to yield to a stopped school bus after striking a 10-year-old child boarding a school bus, WJHL-TV reported. The boy suffered minor injuries, and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, WJHL-TV reported. Tuesday's incidents are a reminder of the dangers children face at the bus stop.
