EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - The man accused of hitting and killing a jogger in Lakeside appeared in court Tuesday for a bail hearing.Michael Woodfill is charged with second-degree murder and gross vehicular homicide for the crash Monday that killed 41-year-old Susana Gotell. She was jogging on Woodside Avenue when she was struck.Woodfill had a blood alcohol level of .21 percent during Monday’s crash, prosecutors said.RELATED: Man accused of deadly DUI crash had license suspendedAccording to Deputy District Attorney Andrew Aguilar, Woodfill has two previous DUI convictions from 2006 and 2016.“I think it’s clear this defendant has an alcohol problem given the blood alcohol levels involved, and the fact this is his third DUI case,” Aguilar said.The judge set Woodfill’s bond at million, half the amount prosecutors requested.RELATED: Woman hit, killed by DUI driver in LakesideWoodfill must wear an ankle monitoring bracelet until his trial next month. EL CENTRO, Calif. (KGTV) - Two earthquakes shook the Imperial County city of El Centro Monday night. The first quake, which measured a 4.0 magnitude, was 1 kilometer east-northeast of the city at 6:13 p.m. The second quake was a 3.7 about 30 seconds later.A check of the U.S. Geological Survey's 'Did You Feel It' map showed shaking was reported in Calexico, about 12 miles away, and Yuma, Arizona.RELATED: Is there such a thing as earthquake weather?The quakes were "very quick", said an El Centro hotel clerk who did not wish to be identified.A server at Denny's said the shaking made his customers stand up out of concern, but no one was hurt.While no major damage has been reported, the quakes were strong enough to shake overhead lights and topple monitors on display at Staples, according to clerk Krosby Rider. 825

(KGTV) - 10News got to ride along with the CHP Thursday in the middle of “Distracted driving awareness month.”Despite new laws, crashes attributed to distracted driving went up between 2013 and 2015 by nearly 12 percent.“It’s been a law for so long now, there’s not many people that don’t know you’re not supposed to have your cell phone in your hands,” said Officer Travis Garrow.But he said people who he pulls over are often confused if they had been using their phone at a red light. That is still illegal he says.“Our message is just to put the phones away, just turn them off. Put them in the center console, put them in the glove box,” he said. “Somewhere that won’t distract you.”The cost of a distracted driving ticket is determined by a judge, but first time offenders typically pay around 0. They are not considered moving violations however so they do not count as a point on driving records. 932
Disneyland Park has shut down two cooling towers at its park in Southern California following an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease.Orange County health officials said nine people who visited the Anaheim theme park in September developed the disease.An additional three people who had been to Anaheim but not Disneyland got sick too, said Jessica Good, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Health Care Agency. One patient, who had not visited the park and had additional health issues, died, she said.The 12 patients are between ages 52 and 94, and 10 were hospitalized, she said.CNN has reached out to Disneyland for comment but has not heard back."To date, no additional Legionella cases have been identified with potential exposure in Anaheim after September," Good said. "There is no known ongoing risk associated with this outbreak."Legionnaires disease is a severe form of pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria, sometimes found in water systems. It is typically contracted by breathing mist from the water that contains it. The source of the mist can be air conditioning units in large facilities, showers or hot tubs. Legionnaires' disease is not contagious between humans.County health officials identified Disneyland Park as a common location of eight of the cases last month, and have been working to identify potential sources, Good said.Disneyland Park informed health officials this month that elevated levels of Legionella had been identified in two of its 18 towers, which were then treated and disinfected.Disneyland took the towers out of service on November 1 and told the health agency it had performed additional disinfecting and testing. It brought the towers back into service November 5, but two days later, they were taken out of service again,she said.Health officials subsequently issued an order that the towers remain shut down until they are verified to be free from contamination.
