Police in Japan have arrested a 27-year-old man after he admitted to killing an unidentified person and dismembering the body.Japanese media reported parts of as many as nine bodies were found in the apartment of Takahiro Shiraishi in Zama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo.Shiraishi has been arrested on the charge of abandoning a corpse, police told CNN, and investigation is still ongoing. The names, ages and genders of the alleged victims have not been revealed."I killed (a person) and dismembered the body and put them into a cooler box with cat litter in order to hide the evidence," Shiraishi said, according to police.A police officer would not comment on the eight other bodies reportedly found in Shiraishi's apartment.According to Japanese public broadcaster NHK, police searched Shiraishi's home as part of an investigation into the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman from Hachioji City, in the Tokyo suburbs.Investigators told NHK the woman was reported missing last Tuesday after she posted a message online saying she was looking for someone to join her in committing suicide. Surveillance footage showed her walking with the suspect near the man's apartment. When they searched Shiraishi's apartment, police found the dismembered body parts of nine people, hidden around the apartment, NHK reported.Citing police sources, TV Asahi reported three cooler boxes and five containers were found in Shiraishi's room containing human heads and bones with the flesh scraped off.  1515

Pharmacists will be instrumental in getting the first round of COVID-19 vaccines out, especially for the most vulnerable.Walgreens and CVS have a deal with the U.S. Department of Health to go into more than 50,000 long-term care facilities. Both companies are still recruiting pharmacists, nurses and pharmacy technicians.“I am absolutely supportive of getting a vaccine and I will be the first in line when I am eligible to get one. I believe in vaccines. I believe in the science of vaccines,” said Tasha Polster, who deals with pharmacy quality, compliance and patient safety at Walgreens.Once the vaccine is more widely available, people will be able to sign up online to get the vaccine at a pharmacy location.Walgreens plans to work with communities to set up COVID-19 vaccine sites in other locations, like they do with the flu shot.“We work with churches and local community centers in underserved populations to bring the vaccine to those patients that would you know need them,” said Polster.Speaking of the flu, the pandemic has brought some encouraging news on that front.Walgreens created special map models to show what the flu season has done so far this year compared to last year. They show there’s been far less activity.Walgreens attributes that not only to COVID-19 safety precautions, but to what they call an unprecedented demand for flu shots, which you can still get. 1399

Pepe the frog, the once-innocent cartoon that was appropriated as a mascot of the alt-right, is at the center of a new legal battle.Matt Furie, the character's creator is suing InfoWars, the media company helmed by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. In the lawsuit, filed Monday, Furie alleges copyright infringement stemming from a stylized poster sold on the Infowars website. The .95 poster features a depiction of Pepe alongside other MAGA "heroes" drawn by artist Jon Allen, including Donald Trump, Roger Stone, Milo Yiannopoulos, Ann Coulter and Jones himself."The establishment wants this taken down," the description of the poster reads. "Instead, celebrate the historic victory and frame this conversation starter in your home!''According to the civil complaint, "Furie did not authorize the use of the Pepe image or character in this poster, and does not approve of the association of Pepe with Alex Jones or any of the other figures shown in this poster, or the 'MAGA' slogan."In an audio statement published on the InfoWars YouTube channel, Jones calls the lawsuit "frivolous" and part of a larger attempt by media outlets to make Infowars "public enemy number one.""We did not create the posters, that are protected speech, that are transformative," Jones says, stating the use of the frog in an item for sale "is 100% protected by the courts, protected by the first amendment, protected by fair use."Furie has tried desperately to rescue his laid-back frog from the swamp of alt-right and neo-Nazi troll patois, even going as far as "killing" the character in a 2017 cartoon. However, like the Hydra (both Lernaean and Marvel-esque), the beheading of the chief Pepe has only resulted in more spawn, as both the cartoon and general frog imagery live on in alt-right and white nationalist circles.Even Gab, a "free speech social network" that serves as a safe space for such folks, features a frog in its logo.Furie's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and a permanent injunction against any further copyright infringements regarding his beleaguered creation.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. Police in Northern California say a nurse driving home from her shift at a hospital was assaulted after she encountered a group of protesters who say she intentionally drove into the crowd. Santa Rosa police say they are investigating but add that video evidence does not show that the woman purposely drove into about 100 people marching Saturday night. The woman told officers she was punched in the face by a man who followed her after she drove away from a “swarm” of people blocking her vehicle. Protesters initially said a teenager on a bicycle had been injured but no victims have come forward to police."SRPD officers met with several protesters who believed that the driver of the SUV intentionally drove through the crowd. There was some discrepancy as to how fast the vehicle was driving. Several protesters provided video footage of the incident to the officers on scene," police said in a statement. "The videos show the protesters taking over all lanes of traffic on Sonoma Avenue, heading eastbound. It also showed it was dark outside. In the videos, it is clear that the vehicle is approaching the crowd and you can hear several people yelling profanities at the driver. At one point, protesters surround the vehicle and the vehicle is struck by several unknown objects and a skateboard. Because the vehicles’ path was blocked by protesters, the driver tried to maneuver her way out of the crowd until her path was clear. There is no indication from the videos that the driver was trying to run over protesters on purpose."Video of the incident has not been released. 1591
