TAMPA, Fla. — George Streets, Jr., is just 10-years-old and he’s somewhat of a boxing phenom.“When I was little, I always wanted to box,” George, Jr. said.His trainer Malcolm Peck has been working with George for about a year.“The determination, the way he processes things, the energy he has is different,” Peck said. “It’s definitely different.”When George was a 2-year-old, he would walk around the house punching everything in his path.“T trained by punching the couch,” he said. “My dad would be asking me what I was doing. I’d be ‘ha, ha, ha, ha’ punching the couch.”“He punched a hole in the side of that couch,” his father George, Sr. added.And, that’s how he got the nickname — Lil Savage. He’s mildly autistic and diagnosed with an extreme case of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Boxing has improved his focus.“Boxing allows you to utilize that energy, stay focused, if you’re not focused and you look to your left or right, you’re going to get hit in the face,” George, Sr. said. “It’s going to hurt pretty bad."“It helps him with his attention span tremendously. His grades have improved. He went from being a D-F student to an A-B student.”Lil Savage trains for about four hours each day. He wakes up a 5 a.m. for conditioning drills and goes to the boxing gym after school.The hardest part for him getting into the ring was finding a trainer willing to work with such a young boxer.“No one wanted to train me because I was a little kid,” George, Jr. said. “But when I showed them I could spar, then they really wanted to train me.”He knows the stakes are high with gloves on in the ring, and he wants to be on top.“My goal is to be the best boxer and be myself.”You can see Lil Savage in action later this month. TEXAS — A 78-year-old man has confessed to 90 killings, and investigators are saying he could be one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history.Samuel Little is currently being held in a Texas prison. Investigators have confirmed 34 cases so far, and the FBI said in a news release Tuesday that more are pending confirmation. The killings Little has claimed responsibility for include a black female in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974 and a white female in Covington, Kentucky in 1984, according to the FBI. Little said he met that second victim in Columbus, Ohio and disposed of her body somewhere in Northern Kentucky. Neither of those confessions had been corroborated by law enforcement as of Nov. 15.The women Little confessed to killing turned up dead between 1970 and 2005 in states from coast to coast, according to the FBI.  863

TAMPA, Fla. — The Centers for Disease Control has just identified more than 220 strains of what they call “nightmare bacteria” that can kill up to 50 percent of the people who catch them.“I never ever thought that I would end up getting MRSA,” said Sandra Jankowski, who was infected with antibiotic resistant bacteria her father contracted during a visit to a local hospital.Jankowski believes she was infected while caring for her father at a nursing home.“He had small scrapes and other things, which meant what was there in his system was sort of out there for all the rest of us,” she said.Jankowski contracted MRSA in her eyes and she underwent treatment for months.“It's much more rampant than we realize and very difficult to get rid of,” Jankowski said.She was lucky, because her infection eventually responded to drugs.But the CDC announced Tuesday that researchers have identified more than 220 strains nationwide that don't respond to drugs.“We are learning what is the extent of the problem and how to best manage it. And that's so critical,” said Dr. Seetha Lakshmi, an infectious disease specialist at Tampa General Hospital.She says new research and better communication between local partners and state and federal agencies will help address the crisis.The first of its kind nationwide assessment released Tuesday provides new information to providers.The CDC has more than 500 employees dedicated to containing unusual antibiotic resistance.“If you're the frontline provider, how do you act on this issue? What are your resources?
