(KGTV) — An elderly, disabled man has died after his East County mobile home caught fire.The man, who authorities say had trouble getting around, called first responders to the fire at 8301 Mission Gorge Rd. around 1 a.m. Saturday, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department bomb and arson unit.Deputies arrived but thick smoke prevents them from immediately entering the building and had to wait for fire crews.The man was later found dead inside. Scooter company Lime is recalling one of its models from every city after realizing it could break apart while in use. The company says the model occasionally breaks "when subject to repeated abuse."The scooters were manufactured by a Chinese company called Okai, according to a Washington Post interview with Lime representatives. (KGTV) - A heartbroken San Marcos family is grieving the loss of a beloved great-grandmother to COVID-19.Gregoria Osorio, 78, started feeling sick in late July with a fever, and back and chest pain. She tested positive for COVID-19, and about two weeks later, an ambulance rushed her to the hospital."Her oxygen was really low, in the 70s, and I couldn't get the oxygen up," said her granddaughter Nubia Cruz.Cruz says her grandmother was given oxygen and placed on a ventilator five days later."My heart was broken, just kept praying and praying," said Cruz.Last Thursday, Osorio, a great-grandmother of 10, passed away."We miss her a lot. We just love her so much," said a tearful Cruz.Her legacy is a lasting one. For decades, she served as her town's midwife outside Oaxaca, Mexico."She delivered more than a thousand babies," said Cruz.She moved to San Marcos nearly two decades ago to be with family. Her cooking, especially her mole and tamales, was always filled with love."I want this to be a nightmare, and I wake up and see her next to me or in kitchen," said Cruz.Cruz says her grandmother was healthy and had no pre-existing conditions. The family stuck close to home, wore masks and took every precaution. The family's loved one, 19-year-old Kiera Bergman, was murdered last year in Arizona. ”What helps us is being able to help other people and we want her story and her memory to stay alive and that’s why we’re choosing to do donation drives, because we want to be able to help people that are in the same situation she was in," said Mindy Tarantino, Kiera's aunt. Investigators believe Bergman's boyfriend, Jon Clark, is responsible for her death. Clark faces first-degree murder charges and is set to stand trial in a few months. “I'll look at pictures that I have of her and then all of a sudden you just get overwhelmed, I get anxiety really quick, and it just really hits me that she’s gone," said Kiera's grandmother, Sandie Bergman. They are collecting various toiletries and items like diapers to donate to Becky's House, a nonprofit working to break the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness.A donation drive was held in Santee on Monday, but you can also donate online through the family's Amazon Wish List. 1155
