A video taken at a gas station shows an Alabama woman fleeing after escaping captivity inside a vehicle's trunk.Police said the woman had been kidnapped and was able to get out when her captor stopped to fill up the tank. The suspect, Timothy Wyatt, had broken into her home Oct. 31 and abducted her.After the woman was able to get out of the vehicle, she ran inside for help. Wyatt can be seen running out of the station once he sees her enter.He has been arrested and charged with robbery, kidnapping and domestic violence. 538

A ninth victim has died after a Florida nursing home failed to evacuate its residents, who suffered for days in oppressive heat with no air conditioning, after Hurricane Irma, according to the Hollywood Police Department.The 93-year-old died on Tuesday, adding to eight who were found dead last week at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, or who died after being evacuated to a hospital.The exact cause of death has not been reported, but a number of the 141 residents who were evacuated were treated for heat-related issues. A teenage worker at a Chili's restaurant in Baton Rouge says she was attacked by a large group of women while trying to enforce COVID-19 restaurant guidelines.According to WAFB, 17-year-old Kelsy Wallace was working her hostess position at the Chili's on Constitution Avenue when she was attacked by a group of 11 or more women on Sunday, August 9.The women had apparently become irate after requesting to be sat together. Wallace said that restaurant policy only allows for groups of up to six to sit together.Wallace tells WAFB that she got the manager to deal with the women when an exchange of words between Wallace and the women led to an altercation.One woman, according to Wallace, took a wet floor sign and struck her near her eye.Officers were called to the scene but the women had left by the time they arrived.Wallace was taken to the hospital to get stitches for her eye. During the altercation, some of her hair was pulled out and nails broke. It’s when family members in different houses or close friends agree to socialize in person, but only with each other to limit the risk of infection.“So, when you join a bubble, you're taking on additional risk and the amount of risk you're taking on is that difference between you and the person with the highest risk in the group,” said Cyrus Shahpar, an epidemiologist with Resolve to Save Lives. “So, it’s important to be vigilant and trust those in the bubble.”Part of a support bubble agreement is that everyone practices the same things outside the bubble, including not forming other bubbles. You should also agree to how long the bubble will last. Obviously, the less people, the lower the risk.It’s also a good strategy for families that need help with things like childcare or taking care of an aging relative.Even professional sports teams and other businesses are somewhat following this theory, setting up things like safe hotels and doing things like testing anyone that comes in.“Then, you tell them they can’t leave the place and inside have to be careful about interaction, then you could theoretically say that’s a safer place than outside the hotel,” said Shahpar.Support bubbles could also help limit virus spread even if someone inside the group were to get the virus, because you already know who the close contacts are.“As we navigate through uncharted waters, we don’t know what’s going to happen. We don’t know how long it’s going to last. So, if this helps us maintain our sanity throughout this pandemic, I think it’s a good idea,” said Shahpar.Other countries and some U.S. counties using the support bubble model are seeing success in lowering cases. 1861

A police officer in Prince George's County was shot and killed while trying to protect a woman in a domestic situation on Wednesday??????The ABC station in D.C. reported that a woman called police saying that her husband had shot a police officer.
