The promotion is one of five "fee-free" days throughout the year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Lifeguards say two people were rescued from a trail in the Blacks Beach area on Sunday in separate incidents.The first involved a woman who injured her ankle, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The woman was about half-way down before being injured. Lifeguards put her on a stretcher and used ropes to lower her down to the beach. She was taken by lifeguards to meet paramedics.The second occurred on the same trail, involving a woman suffering from heat exhaustion. She was unable to make it down the rest of the trail, requiring lifeguards to hoist her to the beach below to get her to paramedics.Lifeguards said with Labor Day weekend approaching and a heatwave expected next weekend, they are reminding visitors to local trails to know their limits, wear proper footwear for uneven beach terrain, and make sure they have plenty of water.Beach lifeguards say they don't expect to see crowds slow down anytime soon. 945

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Local San Diego County attractions announced Sunday that they will close as a stay-at-home order takes effect in Southern California.The restrictions for the region begin at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.SeaWorld announced a temporary closure beginning December 7. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Just ahead of this holiday week, San Diego's Cross Border Xpress (CBX) unveiled new biometric facial comparison technology. The CEO of the sky bridge that connects travelers directly to the Tijuana International Airport told ABC 10News that it will further secure and streamline travel into the United States.The U.S.-Mexico border is still closed to non-essential travel because of COVID-19. CBX CEO Jorge Goytortua said CBX is still not encouraging people to travel right now but if they do, they can take advantage of this technology.“Within seconds, the technology will recognize the passenger in a [Customs and Border Protection (CBP)] database,” said Goytortua. He told ABC 10News that the comparison process happens only at a time and place where travelers are already required by law to verify their identity by presenting travel documents. Goytortua says that when a traveler arrives at the CBP processing area, he or she will have a photo taken at the primary inspection point. A CBP officer will do a review by retrieving the traveler's passport or visa photo from government holdings. The new photo will be compared to the previously collected photo.“It's going to be a hands-free process. It's going to be a much faster process,” he told ABC 10News.He added that CBX does not have access to the photos. Only CBP officers can see them. If travelers are still concerned about privacy, he said it's not mandatory to use the technology. “You can ask the officer if you don’t want to be processed like that then you will be processed the traditional way with your document read it on the scan. A CBP officer [will] research on their system and make sure that the person that is presenting the document is the one there in front of the officer,” he stated. 1790

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Hundreds showed up for a prayer vigil Wednesday night, organized by the Broadway Heights Community Council. The Prayer Vigil for Love, Peace and Justice was outdoors on Martin Luther King Jr. Way. A dozen faith leaders participated, each taking a moment to speak to the crowd and then share prayer with the crowd. Organizers say they put this together in response to the racial injustice around the country, mentioning the death of George Floyd and the arrest of Amaurie Johnson at the trolley station in La Mesa. The vigil was peaceful and organizers say that was the goal. Families that attended the event and faith leaders say they are hopeful that coming together will lead to meaningful change and healing. 740
