SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman attacked her father with a metal pipe during an argument today, according to police.The attack happened around 1:45 p.m. at a home on Lenox Drive near Elwood Avenue in Emerald Hills, according to San Diego Police Officer Sarah Foster.It started as a verbal altercation before the 31-year-old woman picked up the pipe and hit her father several times in the face and head, Foster said.The man had to be taken to a hospital and his daughter was arrested. 491

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was fatally shot just outside his family's home in the Paradise Hills community of San Diego, a police lieutenant said Saturday.The shooting occurred around 10:35 p.m. Friday outside a home in the 2400 block of Calle Gaviota, said Lt. Anthony Dupree of the San Diego Police Department. Dupree said the shooting victim's family reported to police that the man went outside the home, and a short time later, relatives heard gunshots.Family members went outside and saw the victim down. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A San Diego man was sentenced Friday to more than 11 years in federal custody for distributing child pornography.Prosecutors say Christopher Duane Wade, 41, admitted last year to sending child porn to others and engaging in a sexually explicit conversation with an undercover agent posing as a teenage girl.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Wade started talking with an undercover Homeland Security Investigations agent in April 2019, thinking she was a 13-year-old girl. They arranged to meet following "more than a week of sexually explicit chats," at which point Wade was arrested.Agents seized his cell phone, which contained pornography depicting "the abuse of very young children," as well as discussions with other people in which he encouraged them "to sexually abuse minors to whom they had access, and to document such abuse for purposes of distributing it to others."Following his 135-month federal prison term, Wade will be on supervised release for 10 years, during which he will be prohibited from having contact with minors, among other conditions, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office."One of our most important roles as prosecutors is to protect our nation's vulnerable children," said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. "In addition to personally engaging in despicable conduct, this defendant worked to recruit others to follow in his footsteps. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Four local restaurants and gyms are suing the state and county over its coronavirus restrictions as a shutdown of indoor operations looms for many county businesses.The lawsuit was filed Thursday in San Diego Superior Court on behalf of Cowboy Star Restaurant and Butcher Shop, Home & Away Encinitas, Fit Athletic Club and Bear Republic.The suit comes as San Diego County is slated to shut down indoor operations for nonessential businesses at midnight due to its recent entry into the most restrictive, purple tier of the state's coronavirus reopening plan.The businesses allege that San Diego's increased case numbers are not a result of exposures at restaurants, gyms and other types of businesses that will be impacted by the impending closures. The lawsuit cites recent figures indicating restaurants/bars, retail businesses, places of worship, schools and gyms make up a small percentage of confirmed community outbreaks.San Diego County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten recently submitted an adjudication request to the state seeking to have San Diego County remain in the red tier.
