Rattled by a string of explosions, which has put the city on edge for the last two weeks, a possible new explosion was reported Tuesday evening near a Goodwill store, the Austin Police Department said on its Twitter account. But after an hour of investigating, the police department said the explosion stemmed from an an incendiary device. The department said the incident was likely not connected to a previous string of explosions. One male said to be in his 30s was transported to the hospital. Their condition is serious, but the injuries are not expected to be life threatening. Tuesday incident comes just hours after a package detonated at a FedEx package handling facility in Texas.The package's intended destination is unknown.  770

RAMONA (KGTV) - Seven acres burned in a brush fire near downtown Ramona Saturday, according to CalFire. At 6 p.m. Cal Fire PIO Issac Sanchez said the fire was 20% contained.The fire burned near Montecito Road and North Ramona Street.Hundreds of neighbors were evacuated from the Ramona Mountain Valley Apartments, where the fire burned right up to their fence. Juliette Farey, a mother and resident at the complex said she was coming back from her son's birthday party and when she saw the smoke, she knew her home was at risk."We were scared for our lives," she said.Farey said the unruly gold bushes on the other side of the fence were out of control, and wished they would be better maintained to keep a fire from happening in the future.Sanchez said the fire started with a pile of debris in the riverbed then spread to nearby grass. Sixty-five fire fighters responded, working to protect neighbors, two planes and a helicopter also jumped into action to help. Farey believes homeless who live in the riverbed started the fire, saying the high rent is to blame. "They probably lit a fire in the river bottom to stay warm," she said.Other residents were terrified, saying they've never experienced a scare like this."There was just this wall of smoke. I grabbed our animals and my daughters," Angelina Rios said police banged on their door urging them to get out and that's when they saw the wall of smoke steps away.Her daughter Destiny Minjares described the fear gripping her and her neighbors, that turned to excitement as a helicopter soared just over their heads dropping water.Destiny said they got splashed and everyone cheered after the successful maneuver, a feeling that quickly faded as they saw the fire was still raging nearby.Firefighters got a handle on the fire around 6 p.m. The evacuations have been lifted. All road closures have been lifted as well. Firefighters are expected to be at the scene for several hours.This is a developing story. 10News will update as details become available.  2101

Republican Darrell Issa has represented the 49th Congressional District for nearly 20 years, but new signs are pointing to a Democrat taking that House seat in the November election.Republican Diane Harkey is vying for the position against Democrat Mike Levin. The district runs from coastal North San Diego County into Southern Orange County. Speaking to the Republican Party of San Diego County at an event this month, Harkey said some are losing hope in her campaign. President Trump has signed the Music Modernization Act into law, a bill that will bring sweeping changes to the way music is licensed and songwriters are paid.Supporters say the Music Modernization Act, championed by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee), will ensure that songwriters get paid fairly for their work in the streaming age.  A key aspect of the legislation is the creation of a new independent entity that will license songs to companies that play music online. The group will then pay songwriters, while digital streaming services, like Spotify or Pandora, can ask for a blanket license. This is the first overhaul to music copyright law in decades. The law will also make sure artists who made music prior to 1972 are paid.Recording artists didn't have any copyright rights in their works until 1972. Kanye West, Kid Rock and John Rich are among artists expected to attend Thursday's ceremony at the White House.   965
