Demonstrators in Sacramento marched for hours Friday through California's capital and called for justice in the contentious police shooting death of Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man.During a second day of protests, activists marched about a mile from the city's Tower Bridge to the steps of state Capitol building.They chanted "Black lives matter" and called out Clark's name. These two completely different events would serendipitously come together to inspire our community, which is why it is Positively Milwaukee.It has been a long journey for six-year-old Tristan Zick and “Maxwell the Pig.” They met for the first time at Heartland Farm Sanctuary, just outside Madison.To say Tristan is a fan of pigs would be an understatement.“Pigs are my favorite animal," Tristan squealed. "I love piggies!”Maxwell made it to the sanctuary after leaping out of a truck to his freedom. He is now all healed from his wounds.This is something Tristan can relate to. He had heart surgery nine months ago, and so did his stuffed pig.His mom Stacy adds, “What was wonderful was that he was able to take care of the little pig, and I think that alleviated his pain because he was looking after his little stuffed pig. It was so cute!”When Tristan’s birthday rolled around this year, they came across Maxwell’s story. In lieu of gifts, the family raised money to help the piggy recover. The family even hosted a drive-thru bake sale, where the family baked pig-shaped cookies.Stacy shares what blew her away most of all, “[The sanctuary worker] asked what Tristan’s birthday was, and I told him. DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A substitute bus driver in Lebanon, Indiana was fired last week after the district said she pulled over on the side of the interstate and allowed two strangers onto the bus to scold a child. The incident happened last Wednesday, on I-65 after a student was reportedly making lewd actions toward drivers. A driver then flagged down the bus and the bus driver allowed two people on to scold the student. The two people then got off the bus and back to their vehicles. The Superintendent of Lebanon Community Schools, Dr. Robert Taylor, calls the situation "unacceptable."The bus driver, who has not been named, was immediately fired.Dr. Taylor said she violated every protocol and procedure they have in place. "It's a matter of picking up the radio and instantaneously contacting somebody that could provide help," said Dr. Taylor. "That's exactly what should have been done."The district is working with local police to conduct a full investigation into the situation.   1043

DENVER, Colo. -- A man was shot and killed near the Denver Art Museum Saturday afternoon. A suspect is in custody, police said. A second person was initially arrested, but police later determined that second person was not affiliated with the shooting.The Denver Police Department said Saturday evening that the suspect in the shooting was a private security guard. He was identified Sunday as Matthew Dolloff, 30. He is being held for investigation of first degree murder.“Further investigation has determined the suspect is a private security guard with no affiliation with Antifa. Additional information will be released as it becomes available," the police department tweeted. Denver news outlet KUSA said it had hired the private security guard."A private security guard contracted through Pinkerton by (KUSA) is the suspect detained by DPD. DENVER -- A police body camera video leaked to Scripps station KMGH in Denver shows the son of Denver Mayor Michael Hancock using a slur against an Aurora police officer during a traffic stop.“My dad’s the mayor, you f---ing f--got,” Jordan Hancock is shown saying in the video clip.“Of Denver? Well you’re in Aurora,” the officer responds.“Guess what, I’m about to get you fired you f---ing b---h,” Hancock is heard saying later.The video clip sent to KMGH by an anonymous source is only about 20 seconds long and ends with 22-year-old Hancock driving away. KMGH requested the full video from Aurora police but the request was declined.KMGH has learned that after requesting a copy of Jordan Hancock’s ticket and the body camera video, the Aurora Police Department alerted the office of Denver’s mayor. APD said it notified Mayor Hancock's office as a “courtesy.”A traffic ticket issued to Jordan Hancock says he was driving 65 miles an hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. In the ticket, the officer wrote, “Attitude very poor-see video.”The ticket was issued by an Aurora police officer on Friday, March 23, 2018 near the intersection of East 40th Avenue and North Walden Street shortly before 8 a.m.Jordan Hancock made a mandatory court appearance Monday morning and agreed to pay a 0 fine.
