SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One man was arrested and another man was injured after a violent argument at a Gaslamp convenience store.San Diego Police say a customer at the 7-11 store at 515 5th Ave. was causing a disturbance at about 9 a.m. Saturday. Another customer confronted the man inside the store and the confrontation escalated into a fight.At one point, the 31-year-old suspect stabbed the 52-year-old victim in the left side of his abdomen, police said.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries and police arrested the suspect, though their identities were not released. 614

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors in College Area are a little more vigilant after a coyote attacking a chicken was caught on camera. Matt Dixon was grilling in his backyard when he heard squawking on the neighboring hillside. “One of the chicken flies into the fence,” said Dixon describing the video he took. “That’s when the coyote popped out of the clearing it there and made its way up and he eventually found what he was after.” Dixon posted the 28-second video online and found that people were quicker to forgive the coyote. “I got a lot of flak for not trying to help save the neighbor’s chicken and I can understand that,” said Dixon, “but it all happened so fast.” Other neighbors say they are more cautious with their children and pets outside knowing there can be coyotes in an urban area. 805

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Wednesday arrested a woman they say vandalized a church Monday afternoon. Kelly Duggan, 26, was arrested after police say she caused more than ,000 worth of damage to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.10News Reporter Bree Steffen Reach out Duggan, who agreed to a jailhouse interview. Duggan told us that she's in an emotional state, heartbroken over her mother's death. "I don't know what's going on anymore, and that's what's making me mad," she said. "I'll still pay for it, that's fine."According to authorities, Duggan threw a wooden kneeler at a Plexiglas window protecting a religious shrine, breaking both the kneeler and the glass.Duggan also destroyed several flower vases decorating the shrine before leaving the church, police say. She was arrested for felony vandalism after being spotted in Barrio Logan.Duggan said she didn't vandalize the church out of disrespect or hate for the faith. The church told 10News they caught Duggan's action on their surveillance cameras but didn't share the video because they worried that people who saw might harm her. Duggan had this message for the church: "Thank you for forgiving me, you know, out of the kindness of your heart."  1265

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More local employees are losing their employer health insurance benefits during the COVID-19 crisis.10News was contacted about employees at the San Marcos Veterinary Clinic who were apparently working just as many hours but their medical benefits have been dropped.10News spoke to the owner of the clinic on Thursday who said she was forced to make the tough and emotional call to drop her 13 employees' health benefits, including her own, in order to keep them on the payroll and keep the clinic’s lights on during the pandemic. She said the decision was made out of desperation. Not greed.On Thursday, 10News interviewed Anthony Wright with Health Access California, a consumer advocacy group. “A stay in the hospital for say seven or ten days on a ventilator, which is the treatment for having a severe case of this virus, could be in the tens of thousands of dollars if you're not covered” he told 10News.So, what if you lose your coverage during the pandemic? Wright told 10News that Californians can try COBRA, which temporarily extends your same employer-based health plan, but there’s a downside. “That's a very expensive option for most people,” he added.Wright said a better option could be Covered California, the state's health insurance marketplace that allows individuals to buy coverage at federally subsidized rates.Covered California’s open enrollment period has been extended through June, amid concerns over the virus. “How much Covered California costs is very much dependent on your current income. It's a percentage of your income on a sliding scale,” he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person died and two others were injured, and Coast Guard crews rescued 17 others after a mega yacht collided with a fishing vessel off the coast of Imperial Beach Friday night. The 332-foot yacht, Attessa IV, crashed into the 65-foot sportfisher vessel, Prowler, just before 8 p.m. about nine miles off the shore of Imperial Beach, according to the Coast Guard.The collision caused extensive damage to the right side of the Prowler.One man was airlifted to UCSD Hillcrest and died at the hospital, the Coast Guard confirmed.
