SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego is making Halloween “Spooktacular” this year.Starting Oct. 2, park guests can don their favorite costumes and take part in physically distanced activities such as Cookie Decorating with Cookie Monster and Elmo, Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt, and the all-new Sesame Street Halloween Dance Party.And what would a Halloween celebration be without candy? Candy will be available for all guests and be delivered through special candy chute for safe trick-or-treating.The park’s Spooktacular event will be held Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Nov. 1. As an added bonus, through Nov. 1, kids age 3-9 get into the park for free with one full-paid adult admission.Park officials said: “Annual Pass Members and Fun Card holders also receive FREE admission to Spooktacular and must make a reservation to visit the park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego is being allowed to reopen, but certain parts of the park will have to remain closed, a San Diego County spokesman said.A county spokesman told ABC 10News that the park is being allowed to reopen under California’s guidance for zoos.SeaWorld San Diego will be able to open its outdoor areas of the park, but indoor areas -- such as its aquariums -- and rides will not be open to guests under the specific zoo guidance.Under the zoo guidance, the park will have to post a Safe Reopening Plan like other businesses.It remains unknown when the park will officially reopen; SeaWorld San Diego officials did not immediately respond to ABC 10News’ request for comment.The park has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The park's website states that for season passholders, tickets will be extended as long as the closure lasted.The company’s most recent earnings report revealed troubling numbers from the second quarter and first six months of 2020, including revenue down 96 percent compared to the same time last year.Parents around San Diego said the news is a welcome sign after a summer of closures. Their Facebook page is full of videos where owners scared off would-be thieves with an alarm or by shouting through a connected microphone.The company is also encouraging people to download their app. Even if you don't have a Ring Doorbell, the app will send you alerts any time suspicious activity is reported in your neighborhood.Also new this holiday season is the Amazon Key, an option introduced this fall. For about 0, you can buy a starter kit that includes a camera and a special door lock. Delivery drivers would be able to put packages inside your home.Amazon also has lockers all around San Diego that packages can be sent to. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Saturday was a picturesque day in San Diego with many people enjoying outdoor dining, but the opportunity is slipping away due to Governor Gavin Newsom’s new stay-at-home orders.“We have a really close community of workers here, and to see it shut down again is really sad,” Abby Pekary said.Pekary has been welcoming guests into Little Italy’s Nonna for more than two years. By Monday, she could be out of a job due to Newsom’s new orders.Pekary is a full-time student at San Diego State University, hostessing to save up to eventually move out of her parent’s house.Her latest obstacle from the state is Newsom’s regional shutdown order, limiting restaurants to takeout or delivery only. The order also forces bars and wineries to close amid COVID-19.“I had a couple people who during the first shutdown they actually moved back to Bay Area because they were living here and just because they were out of a job they had to live with their families,” Pekary added.Unlike the first shutdown in March of 2020, there is no federal stimulus to cushion the fall. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SANDAG and Caltrans are warning people about an overnight closure on Interstate 5 beginning Thursday night for work on the Mid-Coast Trolley Bridge. Starting February 28 at 9:30 p.m., all southbound lanes on Interstate 5 will be closed from the interchange of I-5 and I-805 to La Jolla Village Drive. All lanes are scheduled to reopen on March 1 at 5 a.m. The lanes will be closed so crews can pour concrete to construct the structure for the Trolley overpass spanning I-5 at Voigt Drive. SANDAG says traffic signs have been posted in the area detailing the detour motorists can take. The Mid-Coast Trolley Project will extend the Blue Line Trolley service from Old Town north to University City. Nine new stations will also be constructed. 769
