The 2020 holiday shopping season will be different from all other years due to the coronavirus pandemic.Target on Thursday became the latest major retailer to outline how it will attempt to keep is employees safe during the busy holiday shopping season.For one, Target expects to match 2019 hiring levels despite a downtrodden economy. The device sanitizes shopping carts in a few seconds. It uses an organic, EPA, FDA approved solution to kill COVID-19. "We ship a dry package to the store. We don't ship liquid across the country," he said.Studies show shopping cart handles have bacteria on them. It is one of the most commonly touched items in a store."Customers now are expecting a clean cart. They expect a clean store and a clean cart," said Labadie. Labadie said he first noticed a trash can full of used wipes at a local grocery store. He also saw a lot of trash while snorkeling and diving in Florida."I went and I looked at the trash can. It was a full trash can full of wipes," he said."I wanted to find another solution," he added.Labadie said his invention could help eliminate the use of wipes at grocery stores. Ten people have died after a Florida nursing home failed to evacuate its residents, who suffered for days in oppressive heat with no air conditioning after Hurricane Irma, according to the Hollywood Police Department.A 93-year-old man died on Tuesday, and a 94-year-old woman died on Wednesday -- adding to eight who were found dead last week at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, or who died after being evacuated to a hospital.The exact causes of death have not been reported, but a number of the 141 residents who were evacuated were treated for heat-related issues. Many were moved into the hallways, next to fans and spot coolers.
