A newly proposed Ohio bill would make it punishable by law for physicians to medically aid transgender children through gender transition therapies. Two Ohio lawmakers have proposed charging physicians who do treat transgender children with a third-degree felony if they attempt therapeutic or surgical procedures to change the gender of anyone under the age of 18. It would also allow parents to sue those physicians. While the bill hasn't been formally filed yet, it's already caused concern among those who support transgender rights. "Without the medications, and the access to doctors and therapists and all this, I don't know where these children are going to turn or what they're going to do," said Jessica Cicchinelli, the mother of a transgender child. "And that, that scares me more than anything." Cicchinelli's child is one of 1,600 patients receiving treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, in the Living with Change Clinic specifically designed to serve transgender children. Two doctors, a social worker and several members of nursing personnel work in the department currently. The conservative group Citizens for Community Values supports the bill and other legislation like it. Citizens for Community Values has not responded to a request for comment. Reps. Sedrick Denson and Bridgid Kelly responded, saying they do not support it. Five other state state lawmakers did not respond. Cicchinelli said the treatments her child receive are important, and help her child thrive. She's working to raise money to help fund the work that happens in the Living with Change Clinic."These lawmakers should not have the right to choose how we live our lives and the type of medication and that, you know, that we get," said Cicchinelli. A plane made an emergency landing right on the shoreline in Ocean City Tuesday afternoon, with vacationers watching just feet away.Officials with the Maryland State Police say no one was injured in the crash.The sole occupant, 23-year-old Trevor H. Deihl took off from Reedville, Virginia on a local fishspotting operation and planned to land at the Ocean City Municipal Airport.Deihl told police he was about a mile from shore when he began to have engine trouble and ultimately glided the plane into the ocean.According to the Ocean City Police Department, an officer observed a small private plane make an emergency water landing at the beach and 21st Street at approximately 6:19 p.m.Personnel from the Ocean City Beach Patrol and the Ocean City Police Department immediately responded to the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, witnesses say the plane appeared to glide toward the water as it descended and then float on the surface of the ocean when it landed. The plane then floated in toward the beach. Graysen Levy of Baltimore was there when the landing happened and captured the video."We were just in the water five minutes prior, got out to dry, turned around to see a plane skimming the water into an emergency landing," Levy said. "The kid got out safely and the plane fully submerged into the water afterwards." Air France confirmed on Wednesday the death of a stowaway who was discovered in the well of the landing gear after a flight from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, bound for Paris. In a statement, Air France said it was saddened by the incident and that an investigation is underway.According to BBC News, the stowaway was a child, roughly aged 10. It is unknown how the child was able to get into the landing gear. While there have been a handful of instances when a stowaway survived in the landing gear of a plane, there have been a number of recent examples of stowaways dying.
