(AP) — Security video shows a Florida sheriff's deputy go toward the high school building while a gunman massacred 17 students and staff members, but he stayed outside with his handgun drawn.The Broward County Sheriff's Office released the video Thursday showing Deputy Scot Peterson's actions during the Feb. 14 shooting.It shows him and a staff member rushing toward the building in a cart. He pulls his weapon and takes up a position outside the building.During much of the shooting, the camera's view of Peterson is blocked by a light pole but parts of him occasionally appear.Sheriff Scott Israel blasted Peterson eight days after the shooting, saying Peterson should have "went in, addressed the killer, killed the killer."The 54-year-old deputy retired rather than accept a suspension. A record 66 percent of respondents in this year's Gallup poll say they support legalizing cannabis, up from 64 percent last year."I think a lot of consumers are coming out of the shadows, and they just feel more comfortable talking about cannabis, learning about cannabis,” says Trey Fisher.Fisher, with Medicine Man dispensary in Denver, Colorado, says particularly of note in 2018, is the emerging client base of women and the elderly. "The elderly, they're just looking for relief,” explains Fisher. “They're just looking for a product that works, and they don't care about the social stigma anymore."Individual dispensaries are certainly seeing growth, but industry insiders say the pot business as a whole is still being held back."It’s still completely illegal under federal law, and that's sort of putting a damper on the whole industry,” says Raza Lawrence, a cannabis law attorney.Lawrence specializes in helping entrepreneurs obtain cannabis licenses. FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron on Thursday joined a coalition of 22 state attorneys general in sending a letter to the United States Senate, urging the body to immediately hold a hearing and vote to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.In the letter, Cameron wrote that Barrett's "unwavering commitment to a judicial philosophy that prioritizes restraint, humility, and respect for the rule of law" should lead to a quick approval from the Senate.Cameron released the following statement in support of Barrett."I'm proud to join this coalition of attorneys general in support of Judge Barrett, and I'm confident that Senate Majority Leader McConnell will make sure she is confirmed.
