A Wisconsin man is accused of trying to buy a lethal dose of a radioactive substance on the Internet to try and kill someone. Justin Tolomeo, Special Agent in Charge of the Milwaukee Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a news release Jeremy Ryan, 30, of the Town of Madison has been charged with attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death.Ryan allegedly attempted to buy the lethal dose in March and October of 2018. He was arrested on Tuesday. Ryan, who was dubbed “Segway Boy” faced multiple felony drug charges in 2016. He got the nickname after he was seen riding a Segway around the state capitol in 2011 taunting Republican lawmakers. He also attempted a congressional run against Paul Ryan in 2012. The attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death charge carries a maximum term of life in prison. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Wisconsin’s Western District.  1010

According to multiple reports, Amtrak is planning to furlough nearly 2,000 workers beginning Oct. 1.According to USA Today, the railroad company sent a letter to employees on Tuesday, detailing that 1,950 union workers and 100 management positions would be furloughed.In May, the company sent Congress a letter, stating it needed close to .5 billion in supplemental funds and disclosed plans to furloughing employees in the coming budget year.The New York Times reported that ridership has fallen by 95 percent since March, and projected revenue for 2021 declined by 50 percent. 588

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- The woman killed in an explosion authorities believe was intentional in Orange County Tuesday has been identified as Ildiko Krajnyak-Vestil of Trabuco Canyon.The explosion happened from the inside of the two-story medical facility located on 5 Mareblu just after 1 p.m.The person who died was inside the building at the time of the blast. Authorities first believed a car had crashed into the side of the building but later said that isn’t the case.The FBI and a bomb squad were sent to the scene to assess the situation and investigate the cause of the explosion.At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, the FBI said they ruled out any accidental cause of the explosion, saying they believe the incident was intentional. An FBI official said there were items found at the scene that were inconsistent with what would be at the medical facility. A motive is unclear at this time and authorities say they haven't arrested any suspects. Officials told KABC that the medical facility appeared to be under construction. A preschool in the area was ordered to evacuate as a precaution after the explosion. Authorities held a news conference giving an update on the investigation Wednesday afternoon. A 6th-grade student at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School in Martin County, Florida has been charged with a misdemeanor after he simulated a shooting, pretending to have a semi-automatic weapon.The Martin County Sheriff's Office said students told teachers that the 6th-grade student allegedly said he had a gun for protection. A school resource officer searched the student and his backpack and did not find a weapon. The child was allowed back to class, but a deputy said, in class, the student put his hands up as if he was firing a semi-automatic weapon and began to make pop noises. The Martin County Sheriff's Office was called out to the school and the student was arrested for disrupting a school function. He is charged with a misdemeanor. No weapon was found. Parents were notified that there was an incident."It was very unnerving and disturbing and once again it's the kids that are suffering and it freaked me out after dropping off my son today, giving him a kiss and knowing how the other parents feel about yesterday and that the kids aren't here.
