SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Overall crime rates in San Diego are at historically low levels. But it's a mixed bag when you break down new statistics today from SANDAG.The good news is that property crime is down so far in 2017.Car thefts are down by 13-percent while burglary and larceny are each down by 9-percents for violent crime, it really depends on where you live.SANDAG breaks down the numbers into 17 jurisdictions. Violent crime is up this year in 12 of them.Those communities with a rise in crime were Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Encinitas, Lemon Grove, San Marcos, Santee, Vista, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Spring Valley, and Valley Center.Homicides are down 14-percent and rape is down by three. But robberies are up 3-percent and aggravated assault has increased 1-percent. 791

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly 1,500 people throughout San Diego County are without power as winter storms sweep through the area. According to the San Diego Gas and Electric outage map, 1,494 people are without power due to an unplanned outage. Affected communities stretch from the South Bay into North and East County. SDG&E says it expects to have all power restored by 11 p.m. At this time, it’s unclear what caused the outages. Click here to view the outage map. Cooler weather, rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue through Thursday before tapering off. “Tropical moisture is building around the county from a storm surging from Baja. A cold system will bring colder air and heavier rainfall and possible flash flooding,” said 10News Meteorologist Angelica Campos. Rainfall accumulations are expected to average between .50 and 1.50 inches for the coast and valleys, 2 to 3 inches for the mountains and .10 to .25 inches for the deserts. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for a man who reportedly grabbed three women on three separate occasions before running away.The most recent incident was reported on Feb. 25, at about 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Iris Ave. and Oro Vista Rd. A 22-year-old woman was walking when an unknown man walking in the opposite direction grabbed the woman's breasts and ran away, San Diego Police said.The incident is similar to two others reported in the same area.The first one, on Oct. 30, 2017, happened at about 7:30 p.m. and the second on Jan. 17, 2018, at about 9:30 p.m. Both occurred in the 1500 block of Oro Vista Rd. with a similarly described suspect who grabbed the women and ran away.The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 5-foot-6, and weighing about 220 pounds. He was last seen in a grey hooded sweatshirt, black athletic shorts, and black shoes.Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1035

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Poway residents are once again voicing displeasure with the owner of the now-closed Stoneridge Country Club. Thursday, crews from Big Trees Nursery began removing dozens of trees from the property."I couldn't believe it," neighbor Brian Edmonston told 10News. "I thought it was outrageous and it was a cruel thing to do."In 2017, owner Michael Schlesinger backed a ballot measure which would have allowed him to build more than 100 condos on the land.  The day after Poway voters rejected the plan, Schlesinger closed the club.Poway City Councilmember Barry Leonard told 10News that because the land is private property and the trees being removed are not "native trees", Schlesinger is within his rights to remove and sell the trees.Leonard also said that because Schlesinger terminated water service to the property, he would rather see the trees removed than die. 908
